International students competed in a trivia tournament

The organizers of a trivia tournament at Ternopil State Medical University wanted to offer the way the overseas students an interesting and meaningful way to spend extracurricular time. After the competition, the organizing committee consisting of Zoriana Lukashuk, Taisiia Bilonozhko, Yana Bondarchuk, and Yulia Bandrivskaya received lots of positive feedback. TSMU scholar participated in Horizon 2020 meeting

On October 27, 2017, the European Commission announced new Horizon 2020 Work Programs for 2018-2020. Horizon 2020 is the largest research and innovation program. It is “open to the world”, meaning that researchers, universities, research organizations, companies and non-governmental organizations from any country can apply for calls. Financed calls have already brought in investments totaling 30 billion euros. On November 16-17, 2017, Ternopil State Medical University Ministry hosted conference Advancements in Pancreatology: Diagnosis, Treatment, Nutrition in Diseases of The Pancreas and Comorbid Diseases. Conference organizers were the NGO Association of Family Physicians of Ternopil Region, the Association of Dieticians of Ukraine. Ternopil State Medical University uses the latest in educational technology

Ternopil State Medical University is the first medical school in Ukraine to implement the program Body Interact – clinical reasoning education in the teaching process. This program  presents virtual clinical scenarios, allowing teachers and students to recreate particular clinical situations in real time, supplement it with all the required physical, laboratory and instrumental tests and prescribe treatment in accordance with modern protocols of European and American medical associations. A specialist in oncology radiotherapy and clinical oncology Dr. Andrzej Badzio on November 22, 2017 gave a talk Modern Methods of Radiotherapy in the Treatment of Cancer Diseases for lecturers and students of Ternopil State Medical University. Dr. Badzio received professional training at the University of Gdansk’s Department of Oncology and Radiotherapy under the supervision of Professor Jacek Jassem. TSMU overseas students celebrated the International Students’ Day

On November 17, 2017 Ternopil State Medical University students presented a concert program to celebrate International Students’ Day. A traditional event, this was a prefect opportunity for everyone to showcase their talents. Dean of the Internationa Students’ Faculty, Professor Petro Selskyi greeted spectators and performers, and handed certificates of achievement to the best students. Several national educational events took place on October 20, the Ukrainian Day for Fight against Breast Cancer. Ternopil State Medical University students supported action, organizing a public awareness campaign informing Ternopil residents about this disease and methods of its prevention. On October 18-20, 2017 Zaporozhye State Medical University hosted the V National Congress of Pharmacologists. Its organizers were a national public organization Association of Pharmacologists of Ukraine, state organization Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Zaporozhye State Medical University, and state enterprise State Expert Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Ternopil State Medical University Indian students celebrated Diwali

Ternopil State Medical University students from India, while away from their homeland, sustain national traditions. Recently, they celebrated one of their greatest holidays, Diwali. This festival is associated with fire and light, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. The celebration was organized by the Association of Indian Students, and its president, fourth-year student Arshbeer Sandhu. Celebrating the festival, Indians adorn their homes with flowers and lanterns, make rangoli (patterns on the floor out of painted rice, powder dyes or flowers), and launch fireworks.
