EUA published a major report on “The Role of Universities in Regional Innovation Ecosystems”. Launched on 8 March at an event in Brussels, the study focuses on the role of universities in innovation ecosystems by analysing the nature and changing quality of the interactions between universities, companies, governmental agencies and other public organisations. The results are based on nine in-depth case studies of EUA member universities with a total of 173 individual interviews. The outcome clearly shows the role that universities and university leadership play in this multi-actor orchestration of innovation. Moreover, it demonstrates how universities are developing the interplay between research, education and innovation within the institutions.
Representatives from the EU institutions, universities and other research and innovation stakeholders attended the launch event. EUA will further this discussion at its Annual Conference in Paris in April.
Ahead of the European elections, EUA invited the Parliament group leaders to share their views on key questions for European higher education and research and to join forces with the sector.
EUA launched the latest Public Funding Observatory data, offering information on 33 different higher education systems across Europe. It is presented in a report, online tool and individual country sheets.
On 19 March, the Council of the EU adopted a series of legislative acts as part of its contingency preparations for a no-deal Brexit scenario, including measures concerning the Erasmus+ programme.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day, EUA presented its latest data on female leadership in universities.
After an external review, EUA’s Institutional Evaluation Programme (IEP) was reconfirmed for membership to the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA).
