During the study of the discipline students acquire practical skills in how to identify the changing needs of a person at the end of their life and know how to respond to them; improved understanding of the need for effective communication when discussing care for those who have reached the end of their lives and their loved ones; raise awareness of nurses about any ethical issues that may arise when providing support and ways to address them; improve understanding of the need to respect each person’s cultural and spiritual beliefs at the end of life.
