Second Regional Conference “Ukrainian Language in Professional Use, Past and Present” took place in Ternopil State Medical University

On June 23-24 department of Ukrainian Language of Ternopil State Medical University held the second regional scientific conference dedicated to the crucial issues of Ukrainian language operation in professional synchronic and diachronic phases. Presenting at the conference were scientists from Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kryvyi Rig, Poltava, Kherson, and Sumy. Ternopil State Medical University signed a cooperation agreement with the Institute of Rural Medicine (Lublin, Poland)

A delegation from Poland consisting of the President of the Academic Council of the Institute of Rural Medicine (Instytut Medycyny Wsi im. Ternopil State Medical University class of 2016 received their diplomas

On 23 June a ceremonial convocation of the Academic Council of Ternopil State Medical University took place in the Berezil Palace of Culture. This year, it is the 56th graduation of doctors  from the Medical Faculty, 12th graduation of the pharmacists, 8th of the doctors from the Faculty of Dentistry, 19th of the bachelors of Nursing and first for the graduates of specialty “Human Health”. Renovated TSMU library is ready for the new academic year

Recently, the library of Ternopil State Medical University has undergone significant changes. Renovation work is now completed renovation on its first and second floors. Among the first visitors to experience the new place for study were the members of the Academic Council, which met on June 22 in the reading room.   The reading room for instructors and students is now located on the second floor and divided into several functional areas. Recently Bydgoszcz in Poland hosted International Medical Interdisciplinary Congress  (I MEDIC 2016, Bydgoszcz). Uliana  Zaharchuk, medical resident of the Department of Primary health care, General practice and Family medicine of Ternopil State Medical University took part in the event. I MEDIC 2016 was organized through cooperation of three universities in Poland: Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz, Nicolaus Copernicus in Toruń and Medical University of Wrocław. TSMU hosted a scientific conference ” Advancements in Clinical and Experimental Medicine”. More than 150 researchers presented their work as poster presentations. Presentations were organized into following sections: “Internal medicine, infectious diseases, psychiatry and neurology,” “Surgery, oncology, traumatology”, “Dentistry, otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology”, “Mother and child health”, “Experimental medicine, normal and pathology morphology, pharmacy advancements”,” Social medicine, bioethics, review and analytical works. ”   The participants also took part in a plenary session. Ternopil State Medical University researcher interns at Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse (France)

From 26 December 2015 to 15 June 2016 assistant professor of Pediatrics of Ternopil State Medical University Iryna Sarapuk interned at Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse as a part of Erasmus Mundus MEDEA programme. Training took place at the neonatology department of pediatric university hospital PURPAN.  Children’s Hospital PURPAN in Toulouse.  Department has 43 beds and consists of three parts: 5 intensive care units (26 beds in total), two departments of standard care (12 beds) and 5 rooms for joint stay of children and parents. Ternopil State Medical University is a co-organizer of regional competition of emergency teams

Center of Disaster and Emergency Medical Care and Department of Disaster and Emergency Medical Care of  Ternopil State Medical University organized a regional competition of ambulance crews on June 14 in Ternopil.  This competition was preceded by district competritions. Based on the results it 18 teams participated in the regional competition, including 16 teams from across Ternopil region and 2 from the city of Ternopil. TSMU researchers hosted a workshop on Meningococcal disease and its prevention

Ternopil Regional State Administration Department of Health, Ternopil State Medical University Ternopil Regional Clinical Children’s Hospital jointly organized a workshop on Meningococcal disease and its prevention. The goal of the workshop was to emphasize diagnostic criteria and proper care procedures for this disease to the audience of pediatricians, general practitioners, doctors of family and emergency medicine. Ternopil State Medical University will train instructors in military medicine

In recent years Ukrainian medical institutions of higher education have recovered the work of disaster and military medicine departments. Prior to the outbreak of hostilities in eastern Ukraine such departments remained only at four universities, including Ternopil State Medical University. Here, all necessary conditions were created to train students on the program preparing reserve officers of Medical Service at the educational and recreational center of TSMU Chervona Kalyna. Quiz quest for Ternopil State Medical University international students

For TSMU international students the first day of summer holidays  started with an exciting quiz quest. Ternopil State Medical University lecturers came up with a number of interesting challenges for the participants in the game.   Representatives of Nigeria, Ghana, Poland, India, Egypt and other countries made 5 teams of 6 students each. The quest started near office of the dean for international students, where team captains got their assignments. They had to collect all the pieces to a puzzle to arrive at the finish line. TSMU international students befriend pupils of the school Dyvosvit

For several years now every summer a school for children Dyvosvit (Wonderful World) opens its doors for all the little Ternopil residents who want their holidays to be fun, informative and interesting. The organizer of this school is well known in our region world champion in powerlifting Lilia Prots. On June 9, this year’s International Day of Friends, the pupils celebrated with a visit to their school from Indian  students studying at Ternopil State Medical University. Ternopil State Medical University representatives participated in workshops organized by the Strengthening Academic Integrity in Ukraine Project

A meeting and workshops for the partners in  Strengthening Academic Integrity in Ukraine Project took place in Kiev from May 28 to June 1. The Project was initiated by the American Council on Education together with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine in January 2016 and is supported by the Embassy of the United States. It covers 10 Ukrainian universities from different regions and with different characteristics. Ternopil State Medical University is the only medical university involved in this project. Ternopil State Medical University students work as medical volunteers on UEFA Euro 2016

Two TSMU students Mykhaylo Bandrivskyi and Olexander Rybynskyi-Kosman won in a national competition which chose the best volunteer doctors to provide medical services during this year’s European Football Championship in Paris. “In March this year the Red Cross of Ukraine received invitations for the European football championship. International students of Ternopil State Medical University visited summer camp for children of ATO servicemen

TSMU international students do not stop their volunteer service during the summer months. Even though it is exam period now, our young people found time to give moments of joy  to Ternopil children. Recently the psychological rehabilitation center Step Forward, which provides professional assistance to people from the area of ATO, started a summer camp for children of the servicemen defending Ukraine’s eastern borders.
