TSMU faculty took part in the meeting of Association of Family Physicians of Ternopil region and conference “Innovations in medical science in the practice of family doctors”
On February 16, 2017 Ternopil City Community Hospital 2 hosted a conference “Innovations in medical science in the practice of family doctors” in conjunction with a meeting of NGO Association of Family Physicians of Ternopil region.
The conference was organized by the faculty and staff of TSMU Department of primary health care, general practice and family medicine, NGO Association of Family Physicians of Ternopil region with support by the Department of Health of Ternopil Regional State Administration.
More than 180 general practitioners: family doctors, internists and pediatricians from all medical institutions of Ternopil and Ternopil region met to get new knowledge, exchange information, and discuss pressing issues of primary health care.
Volodymyr Bohaychuk, head of the Department of Health of Ternopil Regional State Administration gave a welcome address to the participants, thanking everyone for their hard work and outlining perspectives of this area of public health.
Opening the conference, Larysa Matiuk, chief physician of the Department Health of Ternopil Regional State summarized achievements of the health service in Ternopil region in 2016.
Overall, during the conference the participants presented and discussed 12 reports relating to various aspects of diagnosis, treatment, pharmacotherapy, hospital admissions and rehabilitation in the practice of family doctors.
Among the presentations were: “Approaches to deworming in the practice of family doctor: etiological and symptomatic treatment” by Dr. Lilia Babinets; “Relevance of metabolic therapy and efficiency of L-carnitine in patients with cardiovascular disease” by Mykola Shved; “NSAID-caused gastric pathologies, their prevention and treatment” by Dr. Serhii Sova; “Unified Clinical Guidelines for Cough in Adults approved by MOH Ukraine” by Iryna Borovyk; “Management of patients with cardiovascular disease” by Dr. Natalia Schepina; and “Mechanisms of complications of influenza and other acute respiratory diseases” by Dr. Tamara Khrystych.
Dr. Lilia Babinets gave another talk, on innovative approaches in therapy for colds. Dr. Olena Samohalska spoke about essential phospholipids in the treatment of chronic liver diseases. Dr. Tetiana Bilous gave talk on practical aspects of treating ARI in children. Dr. Ihor Hospodfarskyi shared his insights on modern approaches in the treatment of allergic rhinitis.
Another practical presentation, by Dr. Olena Herasymenko, focused on basic strategies of prevention and treatment of SARS in various stages of care. Dr. Nadia Reha presented report on bronchial obstruction syndrome in outpatient setting and in his closing remarks Dr. Oleksii Tkach summarized the results of the conference and spoke about future events of the Association of Family Physicians of Ternopil region in 2017, a plan that was adopted by participants of the meeting.
