Delegation of Medical and Dental Council of Ghana, representatives from Ghana Parliament and Consulate in Ukraine visited Ternopil State Medical University.

TSMU students showed good results in the National Olympiad on infectious diseases

Recently Odessa National Medical University hosted the National Olympiad on infectious diseases. Ternopil State Medical University team consisted of fifth year students of the Faculty of Medicine and winners of the first round of the competition Aliona Lukianchuk, Taras Kolesnyk and Oleh Pliuvak. A total of 43 students represented 15 Ukrainian universities. Teachers and students of Ternopil State Medical University participated in Science Picnics

On 21 May the 5th Science Picnics took place on the Theater Square. Science Picnics, first started in Ternopil in 2013, is an exciting project aimed at popularizing science for children. As is tradition, Ternopil State Medical University students and staff participated in the event. In total there were more than 250 participants and 38 teams presented their experiments. For the second consecutive year TSMU joins the world-wide activities to observe World Primary Immunodeficiency Week. This year, the events were supported by the NGO “Rare immune diseases”, association of pediatricians of Ternopil region and joined by leading Ukrainian immunologists. Ternopil State Medical University students from Namibia talked about their country on air

International students of Ternopil State Medical University gave yet another virtual tour of their country for a local television station. This time, visiting TTB studios were students from Namibia. Our students Shipopyeni Joleni Ndapandula and  Shikulo Panduleni Twahafifwa not only talked about their homeland, but also sang traditional songs, and showcased the national dress. Joining them on this virtual trip was TNTU student Joseph, thus the taping of the show has also demonstrated close ties between Ternopil universities. On 20-22 April Uzhgorod National University Faculty of Dentistry hosted the VI International students and young scientists conference Current issues of research and practical dentistry. International lecture cycle as well as a presentation of new developments in modern dentistry were held during the conference. Ternopil State Medical University lecturer trained in Wrocław Medical University

The long-term cooperation between Ternopil State Medical University and Wrocław Medical University allows our lecturers and professors to train using research and clinical facilities of the Polish university. Recently, Associate Professor of Prosthodontics of the Faculty of Dentistry Svitlana Rosolovska was in Wroclaw Medical University on a month-long internship. The main objective of the academic exchange project is to gain experience and advance cooperation between the Ukrainian and Polish medical schools, to use this  knowledge in research and teaching. Ternopil State Medical University members of the European Association of Medical students held a meting dedicated to the topic of hemophilia

Ternopil State Medical University students – members of Ternopil branch of the European Medical Students Association, held their regular meeting on April 14, 2017. It had two themes: World Hemophilia Day and Earth Day. The students prepared workshops and reports addressing these topics. World Health Organization and World Federation of Hemophilia designated April 17 as the World hemophilia Day. Recently Ternopil State Medical University delegation visited Nicolae Testemiţanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy  in Chișinău, Moldova. The delegation included Vice-rector for research Professor Ivan Klisch, Vice-rector for scientific, academic and medical work, Professor Stepan Zaporozhan and Professor Volodymyr Bihuniak. Ternopil State Medical University scientist studied new approaches in research and teaching at Wroclaw Medical University

The cooperation between Ternopil State Medical University and the Wroclaw Medical University (Uniwersytet Medyczny im. TSMU Interns organized a cycle of lectures on medical topics for Ternopil secondary school students

For the last two weeks of April, Pediatrics interns of TSMU institute of postgraduate education led by professor Olha Dutchak met with pupils of Ternopil secondary school №9 to give talks on the topics Sexual Development, Basic Resuscitation, and Healthy Eating. During the conversation on Sexual development medical interns discussed with the pupils body changes during puberty, menstrual cycle, and why teenagers might experience mood swings. Canadian physical rehabilitation expert gave a lecture for TSMU instructors and students

Recently, Canadian expert Renata Roman gave a public lecture “Developing physical therapist thinking, from evaluation to intervention” in Ternopil State Medical University.  Renata Roman (PT, MCP) is the founder and owner of Clarkson Sports & Physio Clinic in Toronto. She is also vice president and international coordinator of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress and teacher of the School of Rehabilitation Medicine Ukrainian Catholic University.
