Students and lecturers of Ternopil State Medical University worked as St. Nicholas’ helpers

A joint research project between scientists of Ternopil State Medical University and the Institute of Rural Health (Lublin, Poland)

For four days, from November 26 to 29, 2017, two TSMU researchers, assistant professor of the department of infectious disease Mariia Shkilna, and leading specialist of TSMU interdisciplinary research clinical laboratory Olha Marchuk, together with specialists of Ternopil Regional Laboratory Center of Ministry of Health Volodymyr Panychev and Anatolii Dautov visited the Institute of Rural Health in Lublin, Poland. TSMU continues to study epidemiology, medical signs and prevention of Lyme disease among forestry workers of Khmelnitskyi region

On December 1, 2017, a working group of scientists from the department of infectious diseases of the Ternopil State Medical University journeyed to Khmelnitsky region. Their goal was to survey forestry workers in this region to assess their understanding of epidemiology, major clinical manifestations and prevention of Lyme borreliosis, and to conduct clinical and laboratory tests for the presence of Borrelia type bacteria among this group. TSMU Nigerian students organized a night of awards and culture

Each year, representatives of the Nigerian student community in Ternopil join together to organize an even to celebrate their achievements in study and community work. They also thank their teachers for sharing their knowledge, support, and help. Of all Ternopil universities,  Ternopil State Medical University has the largest number of students from Nigeria, 294 people. Ternopil State Medical University inaugurated its Teaching Pharmacy

On November 30, 2017, for the first time in the history of Ternopil State Medical University, the Department of Pharmacy Management, Economics and Technology opened a teaching pharmacy. Located on 36 Ruska St., the new TSMU structure is the result of efforts of professor Taras Hroshovyi, associate professor Antonina Denys, and assistants professors Anastasiia Dub and Lilia Stoiko. TSMU students took part in the International Reconstructive Heart Surgery Conference

The second International Conference Reconstructive Heart Surgery held on November 23-24, 2017 in Kyiv, gathered leading cardiac surgeons from the USA, Great Britain, Germany, Poland, Greece, Georgia, Lithuania, Belarus, Moldova, and Romania. Prominent specialists discussed new technologies in cardiac surgery. Students of Ternopil State Medical University worked at regional hospice

For two and a half months, students Ternopil State Medical University had been carrying out a volunteering mission in Ternopil Regional Hospice.  Oksana Kushneryk, third-year student of the Faculty of medicine served as a coordinator of this long-term charitable project. In the hospice, the doctors-in-training assisted its medical staff in caring for patients. They fed the patients, talked to and the elderly, looked after them, and overall tried to get involved in all hospice procedures. EMSA members organized educational activities for the World Diabetes Day

On the occasion of the World Diabetes Day, Ternopil State Medical University students members of the European Medical Student Association, organized a series of events. During two weeks, the doctors-in-training learned about the methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of this disease, and taught city schoolchildren and students of other universities how to maintain a healthy lifestyle. TSMU teachers and students of took part in Kids’ Festival

In 2009, events in connection of the World Prematurity Day took place for the first time in Vienna. In St. Michael’s Square, professors at the University Clinic Angelica Berger and Arnold Pollack launched 500 white balloons into the sky to signify the number of prematurely born children during the year.
