TSMU students collected funds to help children in need

On October 10, 2018 and on the occasion of the World Mental Health Day, students of Ternopil State Medical University Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, and Medical Psychology have carried out a number of events to raise funds to purchase of medicines for children-residents of the Care House in Chortkiv.

The charity organization Care House was created in Chortkiv to address the problem of the lack of resources for social adaptation, development and rehabilitation of children with special needs. The organization relies on charity donations for its funding. There are 350 disabled children in the Chortkiv district, of which 150 live in the district center, and the rest come from other districts and regions.

To help these children TSMU departments participated in a fundraiser where donations were exchanged for candy, dubbed “the good mood medicine”.

In the afternoon, the administrative building hall became a location for a charity fair, which was organized by the interns of TSMU Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology.

The talented students of our university also shared a few emotionally touching performances in support of the children with special needs.

In total, the organizers raised UAH 21,400, that will be used to purchase medicines and other necessary items the Care House.
