St. Nicholas Gifts for Children with Cancer from TNMU Students

This week, students of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, who are participants in the charity project “Box of Courage” (https://www.tdmu.edu.ua/en/2022/11/24/tnmu-box-of-courage-project-aims-to-give-joy-and-support-to-sick-children/), presented a real miracle to young patients of the haematology department of the Ternopil City Children’s Hospital.

On the eve of St. Nicholas Day, students of the Faculty of Medicine Ilona Novakivska and Daryna Kaminska prepared gifts and sweets for children who, unfortunately, have to be treated on this holiday. This project has been implemented at our university for six years. In order to collect funds for gifts for children, a number of charity workshops were organized, such as T-shirts and shopping bags colouring, making New Year’s toys (https://www.tdmu.edu.ua/en/2022/10/23/tnmu-students-painted-t-shirts-to-raise-funds-for-a-charity-project/).

The students bought toys, board games, colouring books, and stationery for the little patients, since they wrote about them in their letters to St. Nicholas. The children, their parents and the medical staff of the haematology department express their deepest appreciation to everyone who participated in this action, in particular the project coordinator Olena Pokryshko.

The information was provided by Daryna Kaminska.
