TSMU students placed second among international teams in emergency responders competition in Poland

The 13th International Winter Championship of Medical Rescuers (XIII Międzynarodowe Zimowe Mistrzostwa w Ratownictwie Medycznym) took place in the Polish town of Bielsko-Biała on January 23-26, 2018. Ternopil State Medical University was represented by a team of students Bohdana Pereviznyk, Nargiz Dzhavadova and Anastasia Hudyma assisted by Head of TSMU Simulation Training Center Halyna Tsymbaliuk and Head of the Department of Disaster and Military Medicine Arsen Hudyma. Ternopil State Medical University uses the latest in educational technology

Ternopil State Medical University is the first medical school in Ukraine to implement the program Body Interact – clinical reasoning education in the teaching process. This program  presents virtual clinical scenarios, allowing teachers and students to recreate particular clinical situations in real time, supplement it with all the required physical, laboratory and instrumental tests and prescribe treatment in accordance with modern protocols of European and American medical associations. TSMU Center of Minimally Invasive Surgical Technologies moved into its new premises

A medical simulation training center has as its main objective achieving patient safety through the use of modern teaching methods and perfected hands-on skills. When practical skills are being acquired through supervised training, modelling, and simulation, this results in developing correct techniques and procedures, helping to minimize professional and operational risks. National competition on simulation medicine TernopilSimOlymp 2017 took place at TSMU

National Olympiad on simulation medicine and emergency medical care TernopilSimOlymp 2017 took place on September 29-30 at TSMU’s Chervona Kalyna Academic and Recreation Complex. The organizers of the event were the Central Methodological Center for Higher Medical Education of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine; Ternopil State Medical University, Public Institution National Council for Resuscitation and Emergency Medical Aid; the Youth Branch of NCREMA and Ternopil Regional Association of Simulation Training in Medicine. 17 student and young professionals’ teams took part in the event. New phantom class for the training of dentistry students opened at TSMU

Improving student training facilities is priority for Ternopil State Medical University administration. Recently, TSMU launched a dentistry phantom class with 14 workstations, allowing students to work on their practical skills. The new training facility joins the first phantom class with 12 stations opened last year. The phantoms allow to simulate therapeutic, orthopedic, surgical and children’s dental cases, while the instructors help to analyze each situation in detail. Canadian expert gave master class on simulation training

Ternopil State Medical University hosted a scientific conference on topical issues of simulation training

On February 1, 2017 Ternopil State Medical University held a teaching conference titled Topical issues of training students at the Center for simulation training: lessons and prospects. The conference was dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the University. Participants discussed the problems of connecting simulation training with educational processes of TSMU clinical departments, the role of simulation training in acquiring practical skills, and the ICT utilized at the Center for simulation training.   Rector of Ternopil State Medical University, Professor Mykhaylo Korda opened the conference. Simulation training center opened in Ternopil State Medical University

A meeting of the academic council of Ternopil State Medical University which took place on September 27 was also an occasion for the grand opening of the new simulation training center, located in  the 3 Chekhov building. Implementation of the simulation center project underscores the commitment of TSMU administration to brining the most advanced global technologies into the academic process, allowing students to gain practical medical experience.
