Associate Professor of the Department of General Chemistry of TNMU Faculty of Pharmacy Lesya Gnatyshyna said that since December 2023, teachers and students started making reusable salt warmers. Thanks to their efforts, approximately 680 warmers have been sent to the soldiers in various directions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur work started when we received requests from the military and we also wanted to do something useful for the army. We can say that we combine voluntary initiative with necessity. In fact, my good friend from university days, Lilia Podvorniak, who is now a volunteer of the Yelyzaveta-Maria charitable foundation, prompted me to this idea. Its volunteers asked to make such heaters, as the military needs additional heat. We decided that the department of general chemistry will take responsibility for this, and the profile of the department corresponds exactly to this direction,\u201d Ms. Lesya says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The representatives of the department started the production of reusable salt warmers with a careful analysis of different types of warmers, studying other people\u2019s experiences. We chose the option that was the most optimal, as a result of which the warrior receives additional heat for three hours if he holds the heating pad closer to the body. It has a convenient shape for putting in a pocket, under clothes, in a sleeping bag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThanks to the support of the administration of our university and, directly, the staff of the department \u2013 teachers, employees and students \u2013 we managed to organize a collection of funds for the purchase of consumables. First of all, this is a chemical reagent that is needed for warmers \u2013 sodium acetate. We buy it from the same manufacturer all the time. We also buy special heat-resistant bags that must meet the requirements for the production of reusable warmers. We mainly involve students in the production because they are also interested in helping the military. Our teachers intensively help young people in this process,\u201d Lesya Gnatyshyna says.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team of the Department of General Chemistry regularly receives requests from the military and requests from volunteers of the Yelyzaveta-Maria charitable foundation. In the shortest possible time, teachers and students try to satisfy the requests and send the heaters to the front. \u201cTeachers and students of TNMU contact us, if their relatives or friends are currently in the army. We are also trying to make heating pads, because there is really a great need for them,\u201d Ms. Lesya added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
