The \u201cBest Student of the Year\u201d project has been implemented at Ternopil National Medical University for many years. At the end of each year, there is a competition for winning in the following nominations: \u201cFor excellent academic performance\u201d, \u201cFor significant achievements in research\u201d (I. Horbachevsky Award), \u201cFor significant achievements cultural development\u201d, \u201cFor significant achievements in sports\u201d, \u201cFor active volunteering\u201d, \u201cFor active citizenship\u201d. Full-time 1-6-year students who have high academic performance, are engaged in research, and take an active part in university life in general can participate in this selection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To participate in the competition, young people submit a completed questionnaire and copies of documents certifying the student\u2019s success (diplomas, honours, letters of appreciation, scientific articles, patents) to the Centre for Educational and Cultural Development of TNMU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, the awarding of the winners took place on January 30, 2024, during the scheduled meeting of the Academic Board of Ternopil National Medical University. The diplomas were presented by the Rector of the university, Professor\u00a0Mykhaylo Korda<\/strong>, who wished the young people new accomplishments, success and peace in our country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winner in the nomination \u201cFor excellent academic performance\u201d was\u00a0Nataliia Hnatio<\/strong>, a sixth-year student of the Faculty of Medicine, who has the highest average score for 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the nomination \u201cFor significant achievements in research\u201d (I. Horbachevsky Award), the Head of TNMU Students Scientific Society, sixth-year student\u00a0Tetiana Podilska<\/strong>\u00a0won. Her achievements include publication of the article \u201cGestational diabetes mellitus and its complications, role of desynchronosis in pathogenesis (a review)\u201d in the journal \u201cPathology\u201d, participation in the \u201cIV International Medical Students Conference IMEDSCOP 202\u201d, the X International Medical and Pharmaceutical Congress of Students and Young Scientists, the 84th All-Ukrainian Scientific Medical Congress of Students and Young Scientists, III degree diploma in the All-Ukrainian competition of scientific papers, I degree diploma in the XXVII Congress of Students and Young Scientists, II degree diploma in the Lviv Young Scientists International Conference, internship in Poland within the Polish \u2013 the American Program \u201cStudy Tours to Poland\u201d, the organization of a scientific discussion at TNMU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the nomination \u201cFor significant achievements in the cultural development\u201d the sixth-year student of the Faculty of Medicine,\u00a0Yana Chaika<\/strong>, won first place. She carried out patriotic and cultural work with young people at the military-patriotic camp \u201cPodilsko-Volynska Sich\u201d, which took place during the summer of 2023. She also organized a 6\u00d76 mini-football tournament in memory of the Hero of Ukraine Taras Buchka among players 35+ with fundraising for a quadcopter for the 66th battalion of the 103rd brigade of the Military Police. The student prepared materials for the \u201cHistory of Ukraine\u201d manual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the nomination \u201cFor significant achievements in sports\u201d, the first-year student of the Faculty of Medicine,\u00a0Olha Tataryn<\/strong>, became the best. She took 2nd place in the all-around and 3rd place in the finals in free exercises for the Master of Sports category in gymnastics at the open championship of the Ternopil region, 4th place at the open championship of Ukraine (Kropyvnytskyi). In 2023, she received the title of Master of Sports of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winner in the nomination \u201cFor active volunteering\u201d was the fourth-year student of the Faculty of Medicine,\u00a0Nazarii Krulyk<\/strong>, who is the organizer of the projects \u201cMykolai will not forget about you\u201d for families in difficult life circumstances and families of internally displaced persons, \u201cI am a donor\u201d with the aim of popularizing donor movement among students of TNMU and \u201cMercy Box\u201d (aid to children of the haematology department of the children\u2019s hospital).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the nomination \u201cFor active citizenship\u201d, the commission chose Svitlana Berezna<\/strong>, a first-year student majoring in \u201cPublic Health\u201d. She is an instructor of tactical medicine courses for military personnel and other services of Ukraine. She worked during the evacuation of the civilian population and wounded soldiers in the Lyman, Kherson, Kupiansk and Bakhmut directions. The student is a certified instructor from NAEMT, the All-Ukrainian Resuscitation Council. During her activity, she trained almost 40,000 military personnel with various levels of knowledge of pre-medical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
