On October 27 to November 14, 2023, Director of the Academic and Research Institute of Nursing Svitlana Danchak and her deputy Liudmyla Mazur took part in an internship at MacEwan University (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main purpose of this visit was to study advanced methods of organizing educational and scientific work in the field of nursing, exchange experience in training students in the specialty \u201cNursing\u201d of the first (bachelor\u2019s), second (master\u2019s) and third (research) levels of higher education, borrowing the practice of introducing postgraduate education in nursing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the results of the visit, prospects for cooperation between MacEwan University, the Ukrainian Resource and Development Centre and TNMU were discussed. During the internship, the principles of the organization of the system of providing medical care by nurses in the province of Alberta were studied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For two weeks, the delegation worked closely with Elizabeth Burges-Pinto, Head of the Centre for International Health Studies and lecturer at the Department of Health Systems and Sustainable Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the discussion of future projects, emphasis was placed on the development of joint scientific research by the teachers of both universities in order to attract more participants to discuss current nursing issues. Special emphasis in the research will be made on the analysis of the peculiarities of the work of nurses in civilian medical institutions of the Ternopil region in the conditions of military operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The internship was made possible thanks to the continuous support and initiative of the Head of the Ukrainian Resource and Development Centre at MacEwan University, Larysa Haiduk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Numerous meetings with the staff of the Ukrainian Resource and Development Centre of McEwan University determined the direction for further projects and cooperation between students and teachers of both universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discussion of strategically important issues related to the administration of the educational process was carried out during meetings with the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing Christy Raymond, Deputy Deans Jill Vihos and Jananee Rasiah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meetings, we had the opportunity to draw conclusions about the effectiveness of the implementation of the educational process of the specialty \u201cNursing\u201d and establish effective communication between our institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The internship not only facilitated the exchange of experience, but also laid the foundations for the establishment of long-term partnerships in the field of medical practice and education between the two universities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
