On November 16, 2023, the TNMU library hospitably opened its doors to all scholars in the field of the Latin language. Highly qualified teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages presented to the audience their textbook \u201cLatin language and medical terminology\u201d for students majoring in \u201cMedicine\u201d authored by Associate Professors Halyna Palasiuk, Tetiana Savaryn and Professor Nadiya Fedchyshyn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was opened by the library staff, who presented all the educational literature of the Latin language, published by the teachers of the department. The presenter of the event, Solomia Hryshchuk, a student of the Faculty of Medicine, wished all those present pleasant experiences from communicating with the authors of the textbook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, Professor Nadiya Fedchyshyn, gave a welcome speech, who noted the fruitful work of the team of like-minded professionals, creative and purposeful specialists of the department in scientific, methodical and publishing activities. She did not miss the attention of teachers who worked at the department in the past years as deep-thinking, wise, demanding and self-rigorous professionals \u2013 Hryhorii Okomeniuk, Volodymyr Cholach, Myroslav Zakaliuzhnyi, who created the history of the department and the history of the university and left behind not only a good memory, but also their minds, ideas, creativity in their papers, textbooks, manuals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nadiya Fedchyshyn recalled the origins of Latin-language educational literature at TNMU, drawing attention to the textbook authored by Myroslav Zakaliuzhnyi and Halyna Palasiuk and the exceptional terminological importance of the Latin language in many fields of science, and medicine in particular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first author of the textbook, Associate Professor Halyna Palasiuk, in her speech told about the great historical significance of classical languages in the development of European civilization, science, culture and education, emphasized the role of Latin and ancient Greek phraseology in the formation of a highly educated doctor, enriching our spiritual world and the culture of the nation in general.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The co-author of the textbook, Associate Professor Tetiana Savaryn, spoke about the structure of the presented textbook, the didactic and methodical techniques used by the authors of the textbook, which will contribute to the development of professionally oriented communicative competence of students, and emphasized that the Latin language will continue to be the main international source for the formation of a new scientific, medical and technical terminology in modern languages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was an extremely warm and friendly atmosphere in the hall. In every performance of the authors of the textbook, great love for their subject was sensed. All the guests of the event listened to their stories with interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The student anthem \u201cGaudeamus\u201d sounded especially solemnly on this day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highlight of the evening was the performance of an extremely talented trio of students Victoria Lysetska, Marta Struk and Kateryna Biiak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First-year students of the Faculty of Medicine Maria Brona and Bohdan Yurchenko shared their impressions of the textbook, preparing interesting and meaningful presentations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A talented poet, artist, singer, DSc, Associate Professor Natalia Volotovska visited the creative meeting with the authors. In her performance, the prayer to the Most Holy Mother of God \u201cAve, Maria\u201d sounded in Latin. In her welcoming speech, Professor noted that the Latin language had changed her outlook. She sincerely thanked her teacher, Associate Professor Halyna Palasiuk, for having shared knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The audience especially liked the virtuoso playing of the violin and the recitation of a poem performed by students Veronika Zavorotna and Lilia Vlokh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the end of the meeting, those present honoured the memory of our fallen soldiers with a moment of silence and thanked our defenders for the opportunity to live and work in independent Ukraine, to speak and learn their native language.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the song \u201cPrayer for Ukraine\u201d (\u201cBozhe velykyi, yedynyi\u201d), the guests of the event asked God for intercession for Ukraine in this difficult time for our people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
