On October 26, 2023, the 2nd Nursing International Research Conference \u201cNursing in the Conditions of Conflicts and Disasters\u201d was organized jointly with the Academy of Applied Sciences Mazovia (Siedlce, Poland) and the Ukrainian Resource and Development Centre and MacEwan University (Edmonton, Canada).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taking into account the martial law imposed in Ukraine and in order to ensure the maximum safety of the participants, the conference was held online. The conference was broadcast on the YouTube channel, which made it possible to significantly expand the audience, because participants from all over the world could join its work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the ceremonial opening, the following scholars spoke with an introductory welcome speech: Dr. Bo\u017cena Piechowicz \u2013 Rector of the Academy of Applied Sciences Mazovia, Siedlce, Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mykhaylo Korda \u2013 Rector of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Elizabeth Burgess-Pinto, PhD, MN, BScN, RN, IBCLC, Chair of International Health Research, Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Nursing at MacEwan University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Kateryna Balabanova, Director of the State Institution \u201cNursing Development Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine\u201d, made a video address on the topic \u201cVoice of Ukrainian Nurses\u201d, in which she talked about the condition and problems of nurses in Ukraine during the war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main topics of the conference included:<\/p>\n\n\n

    \n
  • The impact of military conflicts and disasters on health from a nursing perspective.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Ethical dilemmas in crisis situations from the point of view of professional activities of nurses.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Caring for immigrants, people with disabilities and marginalized groups.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n

    During the conference, three breakout sessions were held, at which scientists presented a number of reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Olga Zarudna, Associate Professor of the Department of Higher Nursing Education, Patient Care and Clinical Immunology (I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University), together with Assistant Professor of the Department of Theory and Practice of Translation of Volodymyr Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University Mariana Karanevych presented a qualitative analysis of the work of military medics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Svitlana Danchak, Director of the Academic and Research Institute of Nursing of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, reported on the level of anxiety among nursing students in wartime conditions and the mechanisms of its regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

    Polish and Canadian speakers highlighted the problems of organizing medical care for migrants, people with disabilities, marginalized sections of the population and the specifics of work during the COVID 19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In particular, Dr. Christy Raymond, Dean of Faculty of Nursing, Professor, MacEwan University, Dr. Jill Vihos, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Associate Professor, MacEwan University presented a report \u201cSupporting International Nurses: Building a Bridge to Canadian Nursing Certification\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
