The international medical summit \u201cPoland \u2013 Ukraine: Cooperation, Assistance, Development\u201d was held on September 21-22, 2023 at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil Medical University. The event was attended by partners from Poland, Ukrainian surgeons, who are involved in saving the lives and health of military personnel, students and university teachers. During two days, the main topic was the treatment of military combat injuries. In total, more than 15,000 wounded were provided with qualified medical care in Ternopil Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Medical Institute of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, Polish Society of Social Medicine and Public Health, Department of Health of Ternopil Region, Military Medical Clinical Centre of the Western Region, Lviv Military Medical Clinical Centre of the State Border Service of Ukraine joined the organization of the summit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Head of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration Volodymyr Trush congratulated the participants of the event and wished them effective cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Head of the Polish Society of Social Medicine and Public Health, co-head of the organizing committee of the summit, Alfred Owoc, noted that there is an opinion in the world that the war in Ukraine will last a long time and the victory will be expensive. \u201cThere will be a lot of blood, a lot of money spent, labour invested and a lot of needs in military equipment. And in these conditions, effective medicine in Ukraine is still important. Poland, for its part, is ready to help by training Ukrainian doctors, rehabilitating the military and carrying out procedures on its territory,\u201d added Alfred Owoc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TNMU Rector Mykhaylo Korda expressed hope that all reports will be useful for doctors in their future work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the ceremonial opening, the Head of the Health Care Department of Ternopil Regional Military Administration, Olha Yarmolenko, emphasized that in the conditions of war, it is necessary to simultaneously learn a lot in the field of military medicine and provide assistance to wounded soldiers and admit 170 people to medical institutions. According to her, these are today\u2019s challenges, but the medical industry of Ternopil Region is coping and constantly improving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the summit, 19 reports were presented and 2 practical workshops were organized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Yaroslav Pinkas focused his attention on hybrid warfare in medicine. The Chief Surgeon of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Kostiantyn Humeniuk analyzed the importance of endosurgery in the diagnosis and treatment of modern gunshot wounds of the colon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Serhii Ivanov, Chief Neurosurgeon of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, presented the report \u201cSpecialized neurosurgical care in the conditions of Lviv Military Medical Clinical Centre of the Western Region.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Waldemar Wierzba emphasized the role and tasks of the National Medical Institute of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration in health protection of officers of the services subordinate to the Minister of Interior and Administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colonel of the medical service Ihor Fedirko and lieutenant of the medical service Oleksandr Prysiazhniuk spoke about the treatment of gunshot wounds of the maxillofacial area at the hospital stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor of Danylo Halytskyi Lviv National Medical University Ihor Novytskyi, ophthalmologist of the Military Medical Clinical Centre of the Western Region Volodymyr Salamashchak and O. Lukianchenko presented the report \u201cPeculiarities of combat trauma in the Russian-Ukrainian war\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Serhii Hariian, chief visiting traumatologist of the Health Care Department of Ternopil Regional Military Administration, gave a detailed introduction to modern approaches to the treatment of combat trauma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Artur Zaczy\u0144ski paid attention to humanitarian and medical aid to Ukraine from Poland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Alfred Owoc reported on the development of Polish-Ukrainian academic cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Piotr Suwalski reported on the topic \u201cCardiac surgery and transplantology in combat conditions\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Andrzej \u015aliwczy\u0144ski spoke about the system of providing blood and its products in Poland. Jakob Owoc drew attention to the professional burnout of medical personnel in wartime conditions. S\u0142awomir Butkiewicz reported on emergency medicine in the event of terrorist threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrzej Krupa reported on medical controlling as a support tool in hospital management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

General Director of V. Vershyhora Bilche-Zolote Regional Rehabilitation Hospital Liubomyr Synoverskyi shared the experience of providing highly specialized rehabilitation care in his medical institution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Head of the Neurorehabilitation Department of Ternopil Regional Clinical Psychoneurological Hospital, Petro Skobliak, spoke about physical rehabilitation for mine-explosive injuries in the acute and sub-acute periods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Head of TNMU Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology Olena Venger reported on the topic \u201cUsing psychotherapeutic methods for the treatment of post-traumatic stress syndrome.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doctors Elzhbeta Malkevich and Elzhbeta Zanevska spoke about innovative forms of psychophysical activation of retired doctors using the example of \u201cNestor\u201d Third Age Medical University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scientists Elzhbeta Tzipora and Oleg Lubinets focused attention on the life quality determinants of women with breast cancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
