The relationship between psychiatry and art undoubtedly exists. It demonstrates how mental health can be expressed and explored through creativity. Usually, prominent artists who create pictures on psychiatric subjects reflect various aspects of mental health, transfer their own psychoanalysis, treatment and interaction between the patient and the doctor to the picture. And what happens when a doctor is also an artist?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The answer to this question can be found in one of the classrooms of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology and Medical Psychology of Ternopil National Medical University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, intern psychiatrist Anastasia Danyliuk, who studies at the department, created a series of paintings \u201cPSYCHIATRY IN COLOR\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All paintings are made with oil paints on canvases in the format of 600\u00d7800 mm. The latest technologies and the growing popularity of artificial intelligence are involved in the emergence of the idea. Using the MidJourney chat, five psychiatric diagnoses were generated into images, and the canvases were combined with the artist\u2019s own feelings and vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each picture has its own details, which strikingly distinguish it from others, on the one hand, and harmoniously combine it, on the other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let us have a look at the pictures in order of creation:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 \u201cSchizophrenia\u201d. The all-encompassing scale attracts attention from the first seconds. The gaze radiates the toxic effect of the disease on consciousness in schizophrenia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 \u201cAnxiety disorder\u201d. It reflects the nature of generalized anxiety disorder due to the combination of different volumes of some elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 \u201cBipolar disorder\u201d. The reflection of the two poles of the same disease is preserved thanks to symmetry and color contrast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 \u201cObsessive compulsive disorder\u201d. The clarity of the lines expresses the nature of obsessive-compulsive disorder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 \u201cDepression\u201d. A depressed state, lack of interest in life, and fatigue are depicted in the photo as if it were a calling card of depression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
