On June 16, 2023, Ternopil National Medical University was visited by Margrieta Langins, adviser on nursing and midwifery policy of the WHO European Regional Office, Polina Huk, WHO representative in Ukraine, and Kateryna Balabanova, director of the Nursing Development Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the framework of the mission for the development of nursing in Ukraine, the WHO European Regional Office together with the Nursing Development Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine discussed the urgent problems of nursing. In particular, the issue of training highly qualified nursing specialists, leadership in nursing, opportunities for continuous professional development, conducting research in nursing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The guests got acquainted with the work of the simulation training centre, which provides practical training for future nurses and where they can master soft skills, working in interdisciplinary teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, a joint meeting was held with teachers of the department of higher nursing education, patient care and clinical immunology. In Ukraine, nursing practice is increasingly being formed as a separate type of medical services, and the need for nurses with extended powers is growing. Nurses are trained at TNMU at three educational levels, which have recently successfully passed accreditation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the meeting, a number of important issues were discussed, in particular, the content of the training program \u201cNursing\u201d for bachelors and masters in view of today\u2019s challenges. The focus of the discussion was also on the development of a strong research potential of nursing and the importance of wider involvement of both educationalists of all levels and practicing nurses in scientific research. Attention was drawn to areas such as rehabilitation, mental health, and children\u2019s health. Also, special attention was paid to the promotion of PhD programs in the specialty 223 Nursing.
Warmth, sincerity in communication, desire to help and share experience left a pleasant impression on all participants of the meeting.
