In the new edition of the SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) world ranking of academic and research institutions in 2023, Ternopil National Medical University ranked first among 44 higher education institutions in Ukraine (https:\/\/www.scimagoir.com\/rankings.php? sector=Higher+educ.&country=UKR). It should be noted that in 2021, our university ranked second among medical universities of Ukraine and fourteenth among Ukrainian higher education institutions. Over the course of two years, TNMU has made significant progress in its activities in the field of research and educational process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) is a global ranking of scientific institutions published since 2009 by the SCImago research group, which includes a number of universities and research institutions in Spain. The ranking is divided into five sectors: government, healthcare, higher education, private and other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ranking position of a higher education institution or research institution is determined solely on the basis of publications in journals indexed in the Scopus scientific database.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SCImago (SIR) is a scientometric rating based on three different sets of indicators. They are based on the results of research, innovation and societal impact, which is measured by the activity of universities in the network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SCImago SIR evaluates scientific organizations according to 17 indicators, which combines three groups of parameters based on research activities, innovative activities and public impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Components of evaluation of research activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Normalized Impact \u2013 the indicator shows the organization\u2019s citation relative to the global average value. Excellence with Leadership \u2013 the share of publications in which the author is the first author in the list. Output \u2013 the number of publications indexed in Scopus. Scientific Leadership \u2013 the number of publications in which the corresponding author belongs. Not Own Journals \u2013 the number of publications by university scientists not in their own journals. Own Journals \u2013 the number of journals published by the institution (publishing services). Excellence \u2013 the indicator determines the share of the organization\u2019s publications that are in the top 10% of the most cited publications in the relevant subject areas. High Quality Publications \u2013 the share of journals published in the first quartile (top 25%) in the relevant subject areas. International Collaboration \u2013 share of publications co-authored with foreign organizations. Open Access is the percentage of documents published in open access journals or indexed in the Unpaywall database. Scientific Talent Pool \u2013 the total number of different authors from an institution in the total volume of publications of this institution during a certain period of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Components of evaluation of innovative activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Innovative Knowledge \u2013 the number of scientific publications from the institution cited in patents. Technological Impact is the percentage of scientific publications cited in patents. Patents \u2013 the number of patent applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Components of social impact assessment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Altmetrics \u2013 the altmetrics indicator is calculated for 10% of institution documents (the best documents regarding the normalized impact value). This indicator has two components: PlumX Metrics \u2013 the number of documents that have more than one mention in PlumX Metrics (https:\/\/plumanalytics.com). Mentions on Twitter, Facebook, blogs, news and comments (Reddit, Slideshare, Vimeo or YouTube) are taken into account; Mendeley \u2013 number of documents with more than one reader in Mendeley (https:\/\/www.mendeley.com).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inbound Links \u2013 the number of networks (subnets) from which incoming links to the institution\u2019s website come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Web size is the number of pages linked to an institution\u2019s URL according to Google (https:\/\/www.google.com).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
