On January 31, another joint webinar was held with the participation of teachers from the University of Manchester, which last year became a twinning partner of TNMU as part of the #TwinForHope campaign, initiated by Cormack Consultancy Group together with \u201cThe UK universities\u201d. Such long-term partnerships are expected to provide vital support in the short term so that Ukrainian students can continue their studies and scientists can continue their research. In the long term, such cooperation will help restore campuses and play an important role in the reconstruction of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This seminar was devoted to the exchange of experience in the issues and practices of learning in the Blended Learning in Practice mode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Matt Jones, a practicing neurologist at Salford Royal and Trafford Hospital, and Pippa Watson, a rheumatologist who consults at Wythenshawe Hospital, teach 4th-year students (equivalent to the 5th year at Ukrainian medical universities) at the university\u2019s clinical facilities. They were happy to share their teaching experience as well as methods and approaches that the COVID-19 pandemic and the forced isolation of students and teachers have forced them to master.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to involve the student in active learning, how to identify weaknesses and gaps in knowledge and how to help the student fill them. Basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathological physiology, understanding the pathogenesis of the disease, a problem-oriented approach to learning, modern treatment guidelines, active discussion of clinical problems in small student groups (5-6 people), methods of assessing students\u2019 knowledge \u2013 this is only a short list of issues that were discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the part of TNMU, teachers of clinical departments, who are in daily contact with students in the clinic and teach them, and face the same problems and tasks, took part in the discussion and debate. Colleagues from both universities had the opportunity to discuss teaching methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next seminar of the cycle is scheduled for March 13, 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
