At the end of July 2022, a new version of the Webometrics (Ranking Web of Universities) rating was published, which reflects the activities of higher education institutions during the first half of 2022. Ternopil National Medical University took first place among medical universities of Ukraine and tenth among 312 Ukrainian higher education institutions. Last year, we ranked second among medical universities and twenty-first among Ukrainian higher education institutions. In general, more than 30,000 universities in the world were evaluated for their presence in the web space.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Webometrics rating has been compiled since 2004 by one of the largest scientific institutions in Europe \u2013 the National Research Council of Spain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main goal of the rating is to promote academic presence on the Internet, maintain open access to significantly increase the transfer of scientific and cultural knowledge in universities around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the authors, the Webometrics rating, with the help of independent web indicators and a scientifically based model, evaluates all aspects of the university\u2019s activities: scientific, educational, cultural, social, sports, etc. This distinguishes Webometrics rating from other Internet ratings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When determining the position of the university in the rating, the developers take into account the following indicators:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Excellence (or Scholar) \u2013 the number of articles by scientists working at the university that are in the top 10% of the most cited in 26 disciplines according to Scimago calculations for 2013-2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transparency or Openness \u2013 the most cited studies are taken into account. The number of citations from the 210 most popular authors (excluding the 20 most famous researchers).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visibility \u2013 The number of external sources that link back to the university\u2019s web pages, as calculated using the Ahrefs.com external link analysis service and the Majestic Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimization link analysis system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
