The Centre for International Projects \u201cEuroeducation\u201d (http:\/\/www.euroosvita.net\/), in partnership with the international group of experts IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence (http:\/\/ireg-observatory.org\/en\/), presents the next, sixteenth academic rating of higher education institutions of Ukraine \u201cTop-200 Ukraine 2022\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University was ranked first among medical and pharmaceutical universities in Ukraine and the 20th among 200 higher education institutions of Ukraine. Compared to last year\u2019s results, TNMU has risen 4 places higher among all universities and medical in particular. In 2020, TNMU was the third among higher medical education institutions and the 25th among 200 Ukrainian universities. In 2014 it was 14th among medical and 113th among all universities in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In compiling this year\u2019s ranking, experts took into account current trends in higher education in Ukraine and the world, which is undergoing profound changes, including as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the full-scale Russian military invasion of Ukraine. The developments of the International Conference IREG 2020 (Beijing Conference: \u201cUniversity rankings in the time of uncertainty\u201d, October 20-21, 2020), IREG 2021 (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia: \u201cEffects of Rankings on Community and Society\u201d, 15 and November 16, 2021) and the Berlin Principles, endorsed by the Second IREG Meeting (Berlin, Germany, May 18-20, 2006) were taken into account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Basic principles of determining the ratings of Ukrainian universities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

a) Ensuring openness, transparency, objectivity and independence of university rankings.<\/strong><\/em> For this purpose, only open data of direct measurements, presented on the web resources of independent national and international organizations and institutions, were used. The method of calculating university ratings is available to the public in order to verify the results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

b) Taking into account the comprehensiveness and diversity of university activities.<\/strong> <\/em>To this end, their work was collectively evaluated on a broader base of indicators compared to known rating systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

c) Priority of European integration processes.<\/strong><\/em> Based on the importance of European integration processes of higher education in Ukraine, the values of international performance indicators of universities (QS World University Rankings, etc.) are set higher than the values of national indicators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Methods of rating universities of Ukraine<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s ranking of Ukrainian universities is based on a set of indicators of their activities (Table 1) in accordance with the following methodology:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

a) External independent organizations determined the ratings of N universities on the indicator (nomination) K (K = 1,\u2026, 10). If one or another university was not rated for any of the nominations, its conditional place in the ranking table for this nomination was taken as N + 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

b) Using the Delphi method, the experts of the Top 200 Ukraine project determined the values of individual nominations (W1, W2,\u2026 W10). The sum of these values is 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

c) For each university, the weighted average value of the University Index by group of nominations was calculated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

d) The resulting ranking of the university by group of nominations was determined as the inverse of the University Index.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
