The National Union of Ghana Students in Ternopil (NUGS-T) has supported the WHO Global Information Campaign on Breast Cancer Control and Prevention in 2021.<\/p>\n

NUGS-T in cooperation with the associations of international students of TNMU (Nigeria, India, Egypt, Kenya, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Congo) in October this year implemented a comprehensive information project \u201cBreast Cancer Awareness\u201d. The organizers are grateful for support of the Dean of the International Students Faculty and the administration of Ternopil National Medical University.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the joint initiative of Phinehas Obeng Arhin, the Head of Health Care Department of the NUGS-T, and leaders of other student associations at TNMU, the above project was successful and its aim, which met all the requirements and demands of the WHO for organization of such events, was fully achieved.<\/p>\n

It should be noted that the NUGS-T in previous years was also the initiator and participant of similar and many other events. This time, the Ghana Students Union changed its concept and approach. The information campaign consisted of four stages.<\/p>\n

During the first stage, the general public was involved and informed with leaflets that raised people\u2019s awareness of breast cancer. During October 25-20, 2021, information and illustration posters with female students who agreed to be models were presented on social media (official platforms of all participating associations and TNMU). Each girl represented the respective country and association, becoming the face of the information campaign.<\/p>\n

Anita Mirekuaa Sefa, Ayamdooh Samantha Nsomah, Hansen Bless Addy, Obodai Lawrencia Naatekor represented Ghana. The face of the campaign from Nigeria was Aduura Goodness Neniere, Idowu Adedoyin Peace, Naja\u2019atu Sani Umar. Prischilla Elkis Youssef Tawfik Gerges and Sandy Mohsen Fawzy Shafik joined the Egyptian Association. Saher Ali, Simra Hameed became the face of the campaign from the Pakistani federation. India was represented by Pragati Chaudhary, Unnati Sethi, Stephy Mishra, Monika Deelwal.<\/p>\n

The second stage of this information project was of a competitive component. A large team of content authors, designers, creative people, videographers, photographers and others were involved for implementation of this idea. The result of their work can be found on the official pages of TNMU on Facebook and Instagram. All these efforts were evaluated by a special jury committee. The concise and clear message was taken into account in order to obtain a clear and effective message that meets the aim of this awareness-raising campaign. It should be noted that during this stage Abhipsa Dave, Om Thaker, Nupur Sharma, Poorva Bhugra, Nishant Joshi, Vianca Patel, Vidhi Johar, Harshita Upadhyay, Satyam Mishra, Akshay Chauhan, Rangoli Raj, Khushmaval Vishwak Tippannavar, Raunak Debbarma, Hitesh Kumar, Shubham Kumar, Rutu Vaniya, Aditya Jaiswal, Aryan, Punita kharb, Hirva Rajpara were the most active students.<\/p>\n

The third stage of the project was a scientific webinar on \u201cInterpreting Breast Cancer\u201d, which took place online on October 30, 2021 at Ternopil National Medical University and was supported by Professor Petro Selskyi, the Dean of the International Students Faculty, and Associate Professor Olena Pokryshko, Deputy Head of the Department for Organization of Students Educational Work.<\/p>\n

For the widest possible scientific discussion of this issue, the NUGS-T representatives worked closely with the Department of Oncology, Radiation Diagnostics, Radiation Therapy and Radiation Medicine and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology No. 2. The webinar was successful and effective. The students showed great interest and received positive feedback.<\/p>\n

The webinar was moderated by Phinehas Obeng Arhin, Head of the Health Care Department of the NUGS-T, and co-moderated by Tohouri Grace Gre Osso, Deputy Director of Health Care Department of the NUGS-T.<\/p>\n

  • Professor Ihor Halaichuk, Head of the Department of Oncology, Radiation Diagnostics, Radiation Therapy and Radiation Medicine, \u201cSurgical Intervention in Early Detection of Breast Cancer\u201d, \u201cBreast Biopsy with Needle Localization, Stereostatic Core Biopsy\/Fine Needle Aspiration\u201d, \u201cBreast Cancer Ultrasonography\u201d, \u201cBreast Cancer Treatment Protocols and Various Adjuvant Therapies\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The reports by three students were also presented during this webinar al: Gifty Naana Mensah (Ghana) \u201cThe Unruffled is not Safe. Breast Cancer is not Discriminative\u201d, Shweta Singh (India) \u201cStatistical Data and Various Health Organizations of Cancer Registry and Treatment Centers of Breast Cancer in Various Countries\u201d, Daniela Okwudinma Nneoma (Nigeria) \u201cBreast Cancer Risk Factors\u201d, \u201cBreast Implants and Augmentation and the Risk of Breast cancer\u201d, \u201cManual Examination of the Breast\u201d.<\/p>\n

    The fourth stage of the project involved the \u201cFree Breast Cancer Screening Program\u201d for all students.<\/p>\n

    Due to quarantine measures, the implementation of this stage has been postponed. Professor Ihor Halaichuk, the Head of the Department of Oncology, Radiation Diagnostics, Radiation Therapy and Radiation Medicine, and Professor Petro Selskyi, the Dean of the International Students Faculty, assured that they will draw up a schedule for the students interested in necessary examination.<\/p>\n
