First aid is the simplest measures to save lives, reduce the suffering of the victim at an emergency and prevent development of possible complications. An ambulance may not always be at the epicentre of an event and it is necessary to be able to avoid tragic consequences before its arrival. Knowledge of the basic rules of first aid for victims before the emergency arrives may be crucial for saving lives.<\/p>\n

On September 23, 2021, Kateryna Martsiuk and Pavlo Melnyk, the students of I.\u00a0Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, who are volunteers of the Red Cross Society of Ukraine, delivered a training session on first aid for pupils of 10-11 grades of Ternopil Classical Gymnasium. During the master class, the pupils mastered the skills of:<\/p>\n

\u2013 principles of first aid,<\/p>\n

\u2013 recovery position,<\/p>\n

\u2013 cardiopulmonary resuscitation,<\/p>\n

\u2013 respiratory obstruction (Heimlich manoeuvre),<\/p>\n

\u2013 haemorrhage stopping.<\/p>\n

High school pupils and teachers expressed gratitude for the informative meeting and the practical first aid skills they mastered.
