This fire is a reminder of the Saviour’s coming to the earth. At the end of November, fire from Bethlehem was brought to Europe by plane in a special container by Austrian scouts, and from Vienna it travelled from hand to hand through the so-called “scout relay” throughout Europe. It is transferred from city to city, brought to churches, government agencies. People can light candles at home for the Holy Supper with the fire of Bethlehem. In addition, it is brought to orphanages, hospitals, so that those who are far from their families can feel the warmth of the Star of Bethlehem. Traditionally, the Fire is kept in the church before the Jordan – until January 19. Then it can be quenched.

On behalf of the university staff the rector expressed thanks for this event.
