Ternopil National Medical University is the second among medical universities of Ukraine and fourteenth \u2013 among Ukrainian institutions of higher education according to this year\u2019s SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR), a world ranking of academic and research institutions.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Since 2009, this international ranking of educational and research institutions has been published. The global report is prepared by the SCImago research group. SCImago Institutions Rankings performs a general analysis of scientific publications and other of institutions\u2019 performance, and thus provides comparisons between different institutions.<\/p>\n

SCImago Institutions Rankings is a scientometric rating. The only demand for institutions is the presence of at least 100 publications of any type, indexed by Scopus for 5 years and preceding the year of publication of the rating.<\/p>\n

SCImago SIR evaluates scientific organizations on 17 indicators, which combine three groups of indicators based on research, innovation and public influence.<\/p>\n

Components of research evaluation:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Normalized Impact<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the indicator shows the citation of the organization relative to the world average.\u00a0Excellence with Leadership<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the share of publications in which the author of the institution is the first author in the list of authors.\u00a0Outputs<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the number of publications indexed in Scopus.\u00a0Scientific Leadership<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the number of publications in which the author is a staff member of the institution.\u00a0Not Own Journals<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the number of publications of university researchers not in its own journals.\u00a0Own Journals<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the number of journals published by the institution (publishing services).\u00a0Excellence<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the indicator determines the share of publications of the organization, which are in the top 10% of the most cited publications in the relevant subject.\u00a0High Quality Publications<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the share of journals published in the first quartile (top 25%) by relevant subject.\u00a0International Collaboration<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the share of publications co-authored with foreign organizations.\u00a0Open Access<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the percentage of documents published in open access journals or indexed in the Unpaywall database.\u00a0Scientific Talent Pool<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the total number of different authors from the institution in the total amount of publications of this institution over a definite period of time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Components of of innovative performance evaluation:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Innovative Knowledge<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the number of scientific publications from the institution, cited in patents.\u00a0Technological Impact<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the percentage of scientific publications cited in patents.\u00a0Patents\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 the number of patent applications.<\/p>\n

    Components of public impact assessment:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Altmetrics<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the altmetry indicator is calculated on 10% of documents of institutions (the best documents concerning the regulated cost of influence). This indicator has two components:\u00a0PlumX Metrics<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the number of documents that are mentioned more than once in PlumX Metrics (https:\/\/plumanalytics.com). Mentions on Twitter, Facebook, blogs, news and comments (Reddit, Slideshare, Vimeo or YouTube) are taken into account;\u00a0Mendeley<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the number of documents that have more than one reader in Mendeley (https:\/\/www.mendeley.com).<\/p>\n

    Number of Backlinks<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 the number of networks (sub-networks) forming incoming links to the institution\u2019s website.<\/p>\n

    Web size<\/strong>\u00a0is the number of pages associated with an institution\u2019s URL according to Google (https:\/\/www.google.com).<\/p>\n
