Since 2017, student volunteers of the MISERICORDIA university movement and the local history studio \u201cTerpoliany\u201d assisted the pupils of Lozova secondary school enrolling pupils of 5 villages of Baikivtsi association of local communities, to learn foreign languages. Students from Poland contributed to the Polish language studying, and students from the United States, Ireland, Germany, Nigeria, Ghana, Congo, Malawi, Egypt, Tunisia, Kenya, Namibia, Liberia, Syria, Kuwait, the UAE, India, and Pakistan \u2013 to English.<\/p>\n

A very important aspect of learning is the comparison of different languages, cultures, traditions, religions. Their comparison helps discover common features and differences, find something mutual and related. Thus, comparing two different languages, their grammar, origin, historical aspects of development, we can find new methods of teaching foreign languages that facilitates the fastest learning of the language. We can determine the uniqueness and individuality of each nation and shared values.<\/p>\n

This year, student volunteers expanded the project with the German language and titled it \u201cScience and Art of Health in Foreign Languages\u201d.<\/p>\n

On March 20, 2021, a class on \u201cHealthy food\u201d in Ukrainian, Polish, German and English was held inTernopil Training and Rehabilitation Centre.<\/p>\n

Anastasia Nadkevych, a student of the Faculty of Medicine, was responsible for the German language. She studied German for 6 years at a school with advanced study of foreign languages \u200b\u200band holds Goethe Zertifikat B1, a German language certificate. She also studied English for 11 years and holds IELTS B2, a certificate of English. She participated in a cultural exchange program in Poland, where she improved her English and German skills. Anastasia also travels a lot and tries to expand her knowledge.<\/p>\n

Andriana Buchko, a student of the Faculty of Medicine, has been helping in health care lessons in English for the pupils of Baikivtsi ALC for the last 2 years. She improves her language expertise by reading books, watching movies and online classes. In the future, Andriana dreams to perform a comparison of British and American phraseology in the form of fascinating illustrations.<\/p>\n

Marta Struk, a student of the Faculty of Medicine, studied Polish at the Polish Society in Ternopil; she taught the Polish language. Marta took part in the National Olympiads in the Polish language in Lviv, Zamlyn as well as in the Adam Mickiewicz Olympiad in Poland.<\/p>\n

At the lessons we use the direct method as opposed to the grammar-translation method. We show pupils that each new language is a new world and new opportunities. Our student volunteers constantly expand their knowledge of foreign languages \u200b\u200bby traveling a lot and communicating with native speakers. The participation of international students of TNMU in this project benefits young students of our partner institutions in discovering other nationalities and mentalities.<\/p>\n
