Professor Mykhaylo Korda, the Rector of Ternopil National Medical University, and Professor Rashid Ruzibayev, the Director of the Urgench Branch of the Tashkent State Medical Academy (Republic of Uzbekistan), have agreed on implementation of a program of double diplomas in Paramedic specialty. The reform of the medical sector is in progress in Uzbekistan. In this regard, training of paramedics is topical issue. TNMU was the first in paramedics training in Ukraine. Moreover, Ternopil Medical University has a great Centre for Medical Simulation, which is the basis for development of practical skills by paramedic students.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Once, TNMU had implemented a double degree program with the Higher School of Security in Poznan (Poland) for paramedics training. Anastasia Hudyma, a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine, successfully passed all state exams at a Polish university, defended her PhD thesis and became the first medical rescuer, i.e. paramedic, certified by the European Union in Ukraine. Now TNMU independently trains such specialists. Today the program of double diplomas in Nursing has been successfully implemented jointly with the Samarkand State Medical Institute. Thanks to the cooperation, the Urgench branch of the Tashkent State Medical Academy will provide high-quality training for Paramedic specialists.<\/p>\n

Urgench is over 3000 km away. Accordingly, it will be difficult for students to come several times a year to train and study. Today, the university has started creating an optimal curriculum, which will provide the fundamental disciplines on at the Urgench branch. The teachers of Ternopil Medical University can visit an Urgench to deliver short lecture courses, and also give lectures online. In addition, the practical skills development will take place in one educational unit lasting from several months to one academic year. This practical part of the academic program the students from Uzbekistan will master in Ternopil National Medical University.<\/p>\n

The graduates will get two diplomas: one \u2013 of the Urgench branch of Tashkent State Medical Academy and the other \u2013 of Ternopil National Medical University. Accordingly, students should complete the curricula of both schools.<\/p>\n

According to Natalia Lisnychuk, the Head of the International Relations Department, in Ukraine the profession classifier contains such a Paramedic specialty. \u201cThis year TNMU will have the first graduates; these young people know clearly where they can work and fullfil themselves. However, there is no such a profession in the classifier of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Professor Rashid Ruzibayev has committed at the ministry and the government level to include this specialty in the list of professions. It also requires introduction of new medical care protocols. A paramedic is a specialist who saves the life of a patient or victim at an early pre-hospital stage. Their main task is to bring a sick or injured person to a medical facility alive and with minimal damage to health,\u201d added Natalia Yevhenivna.<\/p>\n

In implementation of this program it is necessary to take into account the climatic features of the Republic of Uzbekistan: poisonous reptiles in this country and other animals that do not inhabit in Ukraine. The TNMU experts will assist in development of protocols for medical care providing at the early pre-hospital stage in case of venomous snake bites and other cases that are typical for the Republic of Uzbekistan. These protocols are a key requirement, as a paramedic must follow them clearly in their work.<\/p>\n

Also, Professor Rashid Ruzibayev, the Director of the Urgench branch of the Tashkent State Medical Academy, said he had much in common with Ukraine. First of all, he lived here for almost 10 years, defended his doctoral thesis at Ternopil Medical University, and one of his sons studied at TNMU.<\/p>\n
