For a week, foreign students of Ternopil National Medical University conducted a campaign \u201cUnite in Combating Coronavirus\u201d. They called on all TNMU students, who came to study from other countries and for whom Ternopil became their hometown, to support Ukrainian and Ternopil citizens, in particular those working in health care system, in the fight against coronavirus infection. For this purpose, they raised money to buy protective equipment for doctors and nurses, disinfectants and other items which are needed in medical facilities.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Students have previously monitored district hospitals and identified their needs. By joint efforts, they have raised over UAH 27,000. 170 protective face masks were purchased from these funds. It was this equipment that the hospitals most needed. On April 4, 2020, the participants of the campaign presented the purchased equipment to the Infectious Department of Ternopil city emergency hospital, Kozova district hospital, Monastyryska district hospital, Shumsk hospital. The rest of the money will also be used to purchase what is needed for healthcare facilities.<\/p>\n

International students are grateful to those who supported their initiative, including Mr. Mark, the owner of Afromarkert, Kobi Valons, Pastor Frank, Mr. Jasper, Dr Gait Ramsaksena (Suneducation), and the Deputy Head of Educational and Cultural Development Centre, Associate Professor Olena Pokryshko. The campaign was initiated by the President of the Ghana Students\u2019 Association Osman Sheriff Abdulkadir. TNMU students from different countries joined him. The Ghanaian leader expresses his appreciation to all those who have supported his idea of helping doctors and contributed to combating the epidemic.<\/p>\n

The chief doctor of Kozova district hospital Bohdan Markevych noted that this institution is constantly lacking protective equipment and the entire medical staff are glad to receive any help from those who provide it. He also thanked TNMU students for their support.<\/p>\n
