<\/a><\/p>\nMembers of the Stroke Council with the European Society of Cardiology (Charles University, the Great Inaugural Hall).<\/em><\/p>\n Each year 16 million people worldwide suffer from strokes. The outcome statistics are quite simple: 1\/3 of them survives, 1\/3 \u2013 dies, and 1\/3 \u2013 remains disabled. Of all strokes, the proportion of ischemic stroke is 85%, often caused by atrial fibrillation. Because of it, teamwork of cardiologists, neurologists and intervention specialists is important for timely diagnosis, treatment and prevention of this disease.<\/p>\n As is true for any emergency, time is the most important factor determining the success of treatment of patients with stroke. If the blocked cerebral artery is unblocked the first two hours, the recovery rate reaches 90%, but after 6 hours \u2013 only 20-30%. The introduction of new and simple pre-hospital stroke scales using risk-stratifying approach (RACE> 4, NIHSS> 10) and later Brain Radiological Data (ASPECTS scale) is important for choosing timely tactics to manage stroke patients. As the medical reform in Ukraine, particularly on the primary level of care, is currently underway, these approaches are extremely promising and essential for implementation. Results of successful work using, the new \u201ctime management\u201d approach were demonstrated during the workshop. \u00a0There methods are being used by the teams of paramedics, intervention neurologists, cardiologists and anesthetists in Europe.<\/p>\n New \u201ctime management\u201d approach after stroke used by Barcelona doctors.<\/em><\/p>\n During the plenary sessions, European and North American perspectives on the acute stroke were discussed, and the need for global consensus and joint recommendations for management of such patients were considered. One of the most pressing issues on the agenda is creating cardiovascular and neurological centers which would use qualitative interventional therapy for disorders such as acute coronary syndrome and ischemic stroke as well as ongoing comprehensive secondary prevention. Today, similar institutions successfully work in the US and Western Europe. In particular, Professor L.Nelson Hopkins has presented a center in Buffalo. It is a huge medical, educational and research institution, with the mission is to introduce an innovative multidisciplinary approach for the treatment of patients with vascular pathology.
