Students of the Ternopil State Medical University took part in the 2nd stage of National Student Olympiad on Latin Language and Foundations of Medical Terminology, which took place on April 26-27, 2018, at the Department of Foreign Languages, Latin Language and Medical Terminology of the Ukrainian Medical Dentistry Academy (Poltava).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Participating in the Olympiad were almost 80 students from seventeen medical schools of Ukraine. First vice-rector of the Academy, professor Valentyn Dvornyk and head of the Department of Foreign Languages, Latin Language and Medical Terminology, associate professor Olena Beliaeva, welcomed the participants.<\/p>\n

TSMU team included the winners of the stage I of the Olympiad: first-year students Nana Kwame Appiah Nkansah Dennis (International Students\u2019 Faculty), Aliona Veselska, Anastasia Hodovana and Anastasia Martsyniuk (all Faculty of Medicine).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The exams took four hours in total and included a multiple-choice test, writing tasks of various levels of complexity and a creativity assignment.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The following day, the results were graded.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Nana Kwame Appiah Nkansah Dennis placed first among international students.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

All students received diplomas for special achievements in the study of clinical, anatomical, and pharmaceutical terminology. In the individual rankings, our students achieved the following results: Aliona Veselska placed fifth, Anastasia Hodovana 15th and Anastasia Martsyniuk 16th among 38 students of Ukrainian medical schools.<\/p>\n

Preparing the students for the competition\u00a0 were Halyna Palasiuk, Tetiana Savaryn, Yarina Nakhaieva and Roman Kotsiuba. Associate professor Halyna Palasiuk and lecturer Roman Kotsiuba chaperoned and advised the students during the Olympiad while also serving as members of the jury.<\/p>\n

TSMU students had positive impressions of the event, since it was an opportunity to not only test their knowledge of medicine, but also develop new friendships and interact with their peers from other cities and countries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
