Associate Professors of the Department of Medical Biochemistry Petro Lykhatskyi and Tetiana Yaroshenko , along with the Head of IPGE Department of Pharmacy Professor Liudmyla Fira participated in the international meeting VIII Lviv-Lublin Conference on Experimental and Clinical Biochemistry, which was held on 18-20 September in Lublin, Poland. These conferences take place every two years, alternately in Poland or Ukraine, starting from 2000. This year, Ukraine was represented by scientists from Lviv, Kyiv, Dnipro, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kharkiv and Ternopil. The conference was opened by the presidents of the Lviv-Lublin Biochemical Society, Professors Janusz Solski (Poland) and Alexander Skliarov.<\/p>\n

In the section Experimental Biochemistry assistant professor Petro Lykhatskyi presented his study Oxidative and Inflammation Processes in the Rats of Different Ages Affected by Tobacco Smoke. In the newly introduced section Medical Genetics. Biochemistry of Plants Professor Liudmila Fira presented her study on Hepato- and Cardioprotective Properties of Some Formulations Derived from Plant Material.<\/p>\n

Among the questions discussed during the conference were the issues of environmental biochemistry, in particular the influence of anthropogenic factors on the organism and of clinical biochemistry, such as the role of nitric oxide and hydrogen sulfide system in the mechanism of cell and tissue damage by toxicants of various nature, and disease mechanisms in diabetes mellitus and peptic ulcer disease.<\/p>\n

A number of reports were dedicated to the study of cancer biomarkers, in particular of gastrointestinal tract carcinoma, to allow its early diagnosis, as well as detection of genetic mutations.<\/p>\n

Besides sectional presentations, the conference offered two seminars Possibilities of Modern Next Generation Seguencing Eguipment and A Novel Micrichip Flow Chamber System to Measure Hemostatic Ability, sponsored by UNILAB laboratoria.<\/p>\n

The conference had a warm, friendly atmosphere, and the participants had the opportunity to develop new contacts, exchange new research ideas, and discuss future areas of cooperation.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
