Recently Bydgoszcz in Poland hosted International Medical Interdisciplinary Congress\u00a0 (I MEDIC 2016, Bydgoszcz). Uliana\u00a0 Zaharchuk, medical resident of the Department of Primary health care, General practice and Family medicine of Ternopil State Medical University took part in the event. I MEDIC 2016 was organized through cooperation of three universities in Poland: Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz, Nicolaus Copernicus in Toru\u0144 and Medical University of Wroc\u0142aw. It was attended by graduate and postgraduate students and young scientists of up to 35 years of age.<\/p>\n

Congress began its work with an opening ceremony and introductory lecture on Andreas Vesalius. This reminded everyone of the importance of basic sciences, such as anatomy, for continuous development of medicine. The conference had 12 sessions. Uliana\u00a0 Zaharchuk gave oral presentation \u00abInterdependence of secretory and endocrine pancreatic insufficiency in patients with chronic pancreatitis with concomitant diabetes mellitus\u00bb (supervisor \u2013 Head of the Department, Professor Liliya Babinets) in the Section of Endocrinology and Diabetology, winning with the III place.<\/p>\n

In this section most speakers were PhD students. The section jury includes\u00a0 \u0141ukasz Wo\u0142owiec- MD, PhD (II Department of Cardiology, University Hospital No 2 in Bydgoszcz), Jan Filipiak, MD, PhD (Centre of Oncology in Bydgoszcz), and Alina Jaroch- master of science (Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences, Collegium Medicum, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Bydgoszcz).<\/p>\n

According to the Congress rules, abstracts of the works were reviewed beforehand and only after approval of the organizational committee the authors\u00a0 were invited to deliver the oral or poster presentations. In each section after the meeting and discussion authors of the best works were awarded diplomas of I, II and III degree.<\/p>\n

The Congress had friendly atmosphere, the participants became familiar with methods of diagnostics and treatment and received European experience in presentation of their papers.<\/p>\n
