On September 13, 2024, TNMU Professor participated in the online conference \u201cFreedom in a Nutshell: Ukrainian Experience. Freedom for New Ideas in the Time of War\u201d. It was organized by Netzwerk Wissenschaftsmanagement (Network of Education and Science Managers of Germany, https:\/\/netzwerk-wissenschaftsmanagement.de\/<\/a> ) in cooperation with the Professional Network of Education and Science Managers of Ukraine (PNRM Ukraine \u2013 https:\/\/pnrm.org\/<\/a> ) with the support of the DAAD project \u2013 Internationalization of Higher Education in Ukraine. MoI Ukraine: Management of Internationalization and German-Ukrainian Academic Cooperation (https:\/\/www.uni-hannover.de\/en\/universitaet\/internationales\/moi-ukraine<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this session, as part of the annual conference \u201cF\u00fcr Freiheit in Krisenzeiten,\u201d participants from PNRM shared the experience of Ukrainian managers of education and science with their German colleagues. It was important for the participants from various educational institutions to show the persistent work of Ukrainian universities and scientists despite wartime’s difficult times and challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ternopil National Medical University was represented by Professor Oksana Shevchuk, a member of the Professional Network of Education and Science Managers of Ukraine (PNRM Ukraine).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reports were made by:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Dr. Oleksandr Khyzhniak<\/strong>, Free University Amsterdam \u2013 \u201cAcademic Freedom, Scientists-Refugees from Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Assoc. Prof. O<\/strong>ks<\/strong>ana Bayer<\/strong>, Alfred Nobel University \u2013 \u201cCurriculum and Academic Freedom in the Time of the War.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Prof. Maryna Vasylieva and Roman Nesterenko<\/strong>, V. Karazin Kharkiv National University \u2013 \u201cScience Management in the Education of Young People: Challenges and Opportunities during the War in Ukraine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Nataliia Shalimova<\/strong>, Central Ukrainian National Technical University, and Viktoriia <\/strong>H<\/strong>ura<\/strong>, Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University \u2013 \u201cQuality Assurance of Study Programs as an Effective Instrument of Higher Education Improvement: Freedom for New Ideas in the Time of War).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Prof. <\/strong>H<\/strong>anna Tolstanova<\/strong>, Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University \u2013 \u201cThe Resilience of PhD School Management in Time of Constant Reform and the War in Ukraine).\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Prof. Nataliia Kutsmus<\/strong>, Polissia National University, and Prof. Inna Semenenko, Volodymyr Dahl Eastern Ukrainian National University \u2013 \u201cGender, Freedom, and Education in the Era of War.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference became an excellent platform for discussing the problems of managing education and science in Ukraine during the war and exchanging ideas on overcoming them. Based on the meeting results, it was concluded that the higher education system should be free from discrimination and ensure educational services in an atmosphere of equality and student-centeredness, respect for diversity, and human rights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
