The staff of Ternopil National Medical University has long been an admirer of the theatrical art created by the directors and actors of the T. ShevchenkoTernopil Academic Regional Ukrainian Drama Theater. Recently, lecturers and students of TNMU attended the requiem performance \u201cAndrey.\u201d The production is dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the birth of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytskyi. The director of the performance is Fedir Stryhun, a laureate of Ukraine\u2019s National Award and People’s Artist of Ukraine. The role of Andrey Sheptytskyi was portrayed by Vyacheslav Khimyak \u2013 a People’s Artist of Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The play reflects the life and work of the great Ukrainian, Andrey Sheptytskyi. A Polish count who became a Ukrainian priest, a monk who knew how to earn money and taught Ukrainians to do the same. A wealthy man who gave practically every penny for the development of the Ukrainian church, science, culture, and the patriotic upbringing of the youth. A patriot who devoted his entire life to defending the Ukrainian notion. He stood fearlessly against the Nazi and Bolshevik totalitarian regimes. Above all, he valued human life, respected all religions, loved every nation, and carried his cross to the end, bowing his head only before God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe had the opportunity to experience the life of the Great Metropolitan alongside the actors through his sufferings and challenging life. The students of the group 109 of the Faculty of Medicine were deeply moved by the story of the life of this great Ukrainian and devoted patriot,\u201d noted the curators Iryna Bekus and Oksana Kachur (lecturers of the General Chemistry Department ).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
