On October 25, 2024, a poetry reading event was held at the Ternopil National Medical University library to celebrate the Day of Ukrainian Literature and Language. International students of TNMU initiated the event. Sixth-year student Sartak Saxena noted that this was his way of paying tribute to the Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian language. He hosted the literary evening along with another TNMU student, Iryna Prishchenko.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants chose somewhat symbolic poems by well-known Ukrainian writers. For instance, sixth-year student Tanmay Sharma read Vasyl Symonenko’s poem My Language<\/em>, while second-year student Yana Rohulska recited Vasyl Stus’s poem September Land<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parnashri, a sixth-year representative of the International Students Faculty, read Mykhailo Petrenko\u2019s poem I Gaze at the Sky<\/em>. At the same time, Moses, a fourth-year student from the same faculty, presented Oleksandr Konysky\u2019s poem Prayer for Ukraine<\/em>, known as Ukraine\u2019s spiritual anthem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Iryna Prishchenko recited Lyubov Zabashtha\u2019s poem Native Language<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sixth-year students Jessica and Belissa chose to merge two cultures by translating well-known Portuguese poems into Ukrainian and presenting them to the audience that evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A sixth-year student, Ayaz, read Taras Shevchenko’s poem And the Wide Valley<\/em>. Second-year student Diana Yavna chose one of Lina Kostenko’s works, What Remained Unsaid<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sartak Saxena chose Lesya Ukrainka\u2019s symbolic poem Hope<\/em>, which speaks of inner strength and faith in a better future\u2014messages that resonate deeply today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The organizers thanked Associate Professor Olena Pokryshko, Deputy Head of the Center for Educational Work and Cultural Development, for her support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
