From October 23 to 31, 2024, at the TNMU Interdepartmental Educational and Training Center, professional development courses “Innovative Approaches to OSCE Organization and Implementation. Use of Computer Technologies at OSCE Stations.” were held. The program provided 1 ECTS credit (30 hours). The course coordinators included Nadiya Pasyaka, a lead specialist at the Interdepartmental Educational and Training Center of TNMU, Associate Professors Nataliya Haliyash, Nataliya Petrenko, and Assistant Alina Tomkiv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The head of the Interdepartmental Educational and Training Center, Antonina Chervatyuk, introduced everyone to the work and capabilities of the simulation-based learning center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the offline sessions, participants experienced a stress test through an OSCE simulation with the involvement of participants, allowing them to take on roles such as student, standardized patient, or examiner. This experience revealed problematic scenarios and station preparation issues for OSCE and highlighted the importance of thorough exam preparation. Participants were also introduced to OSCE with a virtual simulation of clinical cases (computer-based OSCE). Additionally, the course presented the “Virtual Patient” method and the platforms CAPSULE (https:\/\/learn.capsule.ac.uk\/cases<\/a>) and CASUS (https:\/\/player.casus.net\/<\/a>), and participants were involved in creating alternative scenarios for resident doctors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During online sessions, attendees delved into various theoretical topics, including OSCE fundamentals, TNMU\u2019s experience, how to prepare tasks (scenarios), algorithms, and checklists. Topics also covered soft skills and communication competence, the role of standardized patients and their preparation, the role of instructors in OSCE preparation and administration, and adherence to academic integrity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
