On May 24, 2025<\/strong>, a therapeutic writing workshop<\/strong> took place in the cozy atmosphere of \u201cCaf\u00e9 on Agnon\u201d<\/em> in the town of Buchach<\/strong>. The event was organized by the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, and Medical Psychology<\/strong> of Ternopil National Medical University<\/strong> in collaboration with the NGO \u201cBuchach-ART\u201d<\/em>. It was held as part of Mental Health Awareness Month<\/strong> and the nationwide mental health program \u201cHow Are You?\u201d<\/strong>, an initiative of the First Lady Olena Zelenska<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop was led by Tetiana Ivanitska-Diachun<\/strong>, Assistant Professor of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, and Medical Psychology at TNMU. The participants \u2014 people of various ages and professions \u2014 came seeking answers to important inner questions through the power of words. The method of therapeutic writing<\/strong>, which lay at the heart of the event, allowed each person to dive into their personal experiences and transform them into metaphors of healing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the center of the workshop was the personal story<\/strong> \u2014 written from the heart, with honesty and care. Writing became a tool to structure thoughts<\/strong>, touch pain<\/strong>, release emotional burdens<\/strong>, and discover new inner support<\/strong>. The atmosphere of the evening \u2014 sincere, trusting, and supportive \u2014 encouraged deep personal work. Together, the participants created a safe circle<\/strong>, where every story was heard and accepted with empathy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTherapeutic writing is not about literary quality \u2014 it\u2019s about truth. About meeting yourself through words. And when that meeting happens, the process of inner transformation begins,\u201d<\/em>
\u2014 said Tetiana Ivanitska-Diachun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event became another important step in promoting mental health in Ukraine \u2014 particularly in smaller towns<\/strong>, where the need for psychological support often remains unseen.
