The scientific and practical conference \u201cHalych Surgical Readings: Traditions and Innovations in Modern Surgery\u201d<\/em>, dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding surgeon, teacher, and scientist Yurii Komorovskyi<\/strong>, was held on May 30\u201331, 2025<\/strong>, at Ternopil National Medical University<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yurii Komorovskyi is remembered as an experienced clinician and surgeon who mastered precise surgical techniques and worked for many years on the challenges of surgical treatment of peptic ulcer disease and post-gastrectomy syndromes. He developed new approaches for primary and reconstructive gastrojejunoduodenoplasty, an original method of substernal esophageal reconstruction for injuries caused by corrosive substances, a new modification of transmesenteric intestinal plication for adhesive intestinal obstruction, teniotomy for colon lengthening in esophageal reconstruction, and methods of longitudinal suturing of the \u201cdifficult duodenal stump\u201d and duodenostomy during gastric resection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference was opened with welcoming speeches from Professor Mykhailo Korda<\/strong>, Rector of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, and Olha Yarmolenko<\/strong>, Director of the Health Department of the Ternopil Regional Military Administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Roman Komorovskyi<\/strong> of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 2 read an address from Yaroslava Komorovska<\/strong>, Associate Professor of the Department of Neurology (1968\u20131981), and wife of Yurii Komorovskyi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
