An online meeting between representatives of Ternopil National Medical University and Guilin Medical University (China, Guilin Medical University \u2013 GLMU) took place on July 11, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants from TNMU included Rector Prof. Mykhailo Korda, Vice-Rector for Science, Education, and Clinical Affairs Prof. Stepan Zaporozhan, Vice-Rector for Research Prof. Ivan Klishch, Head of the Cell Cultures Laboratory Assoc. Prof. Alina Dovhaliuk, founder and director of the biotechnology company “Genom” Assoc. Prof. Andrii Kovalchuk, and Head of the Project Management Office Prof. Oksana Shevchuk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guilin Medical University was represented by Vice-Rector Li Qinghua, Director of the Office of Industry-University-Research Collaboration Duan Xiaoqun, Deputy Director of the same office Yang Yan, and Deputy Dean of the School of International Education Lv Xiangwei.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also present at the meeting were representatives of the company “Ukraine Stem Cell Co., Limited” \u2013 Ding Weifeng, Zeng Xianlin, Huang Suyun, Zhou Yinghui and Ganna Kondratiuk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, Vice-Rector Li Qinghua presented the achievements of Guilin Medical University. In turn, Rector Mykhailo Korda introduced the participants to TNMU’s educational programs and scientific accomplishments. TNMU is developing dynamically and launching new programs, including in response to wartime challenges, such as prosthetics and orthotics, and clinical psychology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assoc. Prof. Alina Dovhaliuk spoke about the scientific directions of the laboratory\u2019s work in the field of regenerative medicine, in particular the use of stem cells to treat acute respiratory distress syndrome (as a model of severe lung damage, including COVID-19), trauma models, joint injuries, and chronic wounds \u2013 an especially urgent issue in Ukraine today. She also described the sources of stem cells \u2013 the placenta, the umbilical cord, and the patients\u2019 adipose tissue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assoc. Prof. Andrii Kovalchuk, head of “Genom” and the affiliated clinical laboratory at TNMU, spoke about the successful clinical applications of stem cell therapy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
