Oksana Sydorenko, the coordinator of the Ukrainian-Swiss project \u201cMedical Education Development\u201d at TNMU, recently donated Family Medicine<\/em> textbooks (edited by Larysa Matiukha, Pavlo Kolesnyk, Igor Svab, and Milica Katie) to the library collection of Ternopil National Medical University. This initiative aims to strengthen the educational process in medical universities during the study of the discipline \u201cGeneral Practice \u2013 Family Medicine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This textbook is a Ukrainian-adapted version of a European edition, taking into account all the specific features and differences of the primary healthcare system in Ukraine. The chapters dedicated to the clinical aspects of a family doctor\u2019s work are structured according to the syndromic principle, a widely used approach in the Western primary care system. The chapters covering organizational issues of family doctors\u2019 activities highlight key aspects of the political, economic, educational, financial, and sociocultural dimensions of the national family medicine system. They also take into account the core competencies, rights, and responsibilities of family doctors within the context of the current healthcare reform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authors provide practical examples of both the strengths and weaknesses of family medicine, proposing relevant ways to improve and optimize the current state of the system to maintain high-quality, accessible healthcare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
