For many years, Ternopil National Medical University has been implementing the project \u201cBest Student of the Year.\u201d<\/strong> At the end of each calendar year, a competition is held to determine the winners in the following nominations: \u201cFor Excellent Academic Achievement,\u201d \u201cFor Significant Achievements in Research\u201d<\/strong> (I. Horbachevsky Award), \u201cFor Active Civic Engagement,\u201d \u201cFor Significant Achievements in Cultural Development,\u201d \u201cFor Significant Achievements in Sports,\u201d<\/strong> and \u201cFor Active Volunteer Activity.\u201d<\/strong> Full-time students in years 1\u20136 with high academic performance, involvement in research activities, and active participation in university life are eligible to participate in the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To participate, students submit a completed application form to the Center for Educational Work and Cultural Development of TNMU<\/strong>, along with copies of documents confirming their achievements (diplomas, awards, certificates, letters of appreciation, scientific publications, patents).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award ceremony for the winners took place on January 27, 2026<\/strong>, during a scheduled meeting of the Academic Council of Ternopil National Medical University. Certificates of appreciation were presented by the Acting Rector of TNMU, Mykhailo Korda<\/strong>, who wished the students continued success and peace for Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the nomination \u201cFor Excellent Academic Achievement,\u201d<\/strong> the commission selected Myroslav Fedorovych<\/strong>, a sixth-year student of the Medical Faculty, whose academic score amounted to 190.9 points<\/strong>, as the winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the nomination \u201cFor Significant Achievements in Research\u201d<\/strong> (I. Horbachevsky Award), the winner was Sofiia Chorna<\/strong>, a fifth-year student of the Medical Faculty. She is the recipient of three first-degree diplomas and three second-degree diplomas<\/strong> and the author of four professional scientific publications<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the nomination \u201cFor Significant Achievements in Cultural Development,\u201d<\/strong> the winner was Tetiana Shevchuk<\/strong>, a fifth-year student of the Medical Faculty. Since 2022, she has been actively involved in the university\u2019s creative life; since 2023, she has served as the head of a student creative group and has organized numerous university concerts and student events at the TNMU Mental Health Center<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The winner in the nomination \u201cFor Significant Achievements in Sports\u201d<\/strong> was Olha Tataryn<\/strong>, a third-year student of the Medical Faculty majoring in Therapy and Rehabilitation<\/strong>. She has been professionally engaged in artistic gymnastics for 16 years<\/strong> at the Y. Horaiskyi Ternopil Youth Sports School No. 2<\/strong>, has earned the title of Master of Sports<\/strong>, and has won numerous prizes at various championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The title of best student in the nomination \u201cFor Active Volunteer Activity\u201d<\/strong> was awarded to Bohdan Sakhniuk<\/strong>, a fourth-year student of the Medical Faculty. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he has been a volunteer with the Rapid Response Unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society in the Ternopil region<\/strong>. He has actively participated in providing emergency medical care and humanitarian assistance during missile strike responses and other emergencies; in receiving evacuation trains with wounded servicemen; in transporting people with limited mobility and vulnerable population groups; and in duty shifts during mass sports and public events. He is also a co-founder of the \u201cRedLine\u201d blood donor community<\/strong>, which promotes voluntary and regular blood donation among young people and the medical community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

In the nomination \u201cFor Active Civic Engagement,\u201d<\/strong> the winner was Luka Lekhnovskyi<\/strong>, a sixth-year student of the Medical Faculty. On February 25, 2022<\/strong>, he was mobilized into a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a combat medic<\/strong>. In the spring of 2023, he was demobilized and resumed his studies, and since July 2025<\/strong>, he has been serving under contract in a reconnaissance unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
