Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University, members of the scientific club of the Department of Physiology and Bioethics, Viktoriia Ohoniok and Olha Kovalchuk, delivered an informative lecture for students of the Ternopil Educational Complex \u201cGeneral Secondary School of I\u2013III Levels \u2013 Lesya Ukrainka Medical Lyceum No. 15\u201d of the Ternopil City Council, with the participation of the Head of the Department, Professor Stepan Vadziuk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\" wp-block-image size-large eplus-wrapper\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"689\" height=\"460\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tdmu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image001-3-689x460.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-178949\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tdmu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image001-3-689x460.jpg 689w, https:\/\/www.tdmu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image001-3-202x135.jpg 202w, https:\/\/www.tdmu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image001-3-200x134.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.tdmu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image001-3.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 689px) 100vw, 689px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">During the meeting, the speakers discussed the peculiarities of adolescent physiology and the physiological mechanisms of the effects of energy drinks, smoking, and vaping on the nervous, cardiovascular, and endocrine systems. The lecturers explained how caffeine blocks adenosine receptors, masking fatigue, why the load on the heart increases, and how nicotine addiction develops. Special attention was paid to the effects of carbon monoxide on tissue oxygenation and the dangers posed by toxic compounds in vaping products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\" wp-block-image size-large eplus-wrapper\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"888\" height=\"460\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tdmu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image003-1-2-888x460.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-178951\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tdmu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image003-1-2-888x460.jpg 888w, https:\/\/www.tdmu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image003-1-2-261x135.jpg 261w, https:\/\/www.tdmu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image003-1-2-768x398.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.tdmu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image003-1-2-200x104.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.tdmu.edu.ua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image003-1-2.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 888px) 100vw, 888px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" eplus-wrapper\">In conclusion, the students emphasized that real energy comes from natural mechanisms\u2014adequate sleep, regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, and adherence to biological rhythms.
