On February 23, 2026, the first round of the All-Ukrainian Olympiad in Pharmaceutical Botany took place at the Department of Pharmacognosy with Medical Botany of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University. The organization of this event became not only a test of knowledge, but also an assessment of students\u2019 ability to work with herbarium specimens, determine the systematic position of plants, and analyze their morphological and anatomical features.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Pharmacy who had achieved the highest results in the examination in this discipline participated in the Olympiad. They demonstrated a deep understanding of the morphology, anatomy, and systematics of medicinal plants, as well as the ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practical situations. The Olympiad tasks were aimed not only at reproducing information but also at developing analytical thinking, the ability to interpret botanical characteristics, and to draw scientifically grounded conclusions, in line with current trends in pharmaceutical science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The department\u2019s academic staff emphasized that such intellectual competitions foster scientific thinking, responsibility, and a commitment to self-improvement among students. Based on the evaluation results, the jury members (Head of the Department, Doctor of Pharmaceutical Sciences Mariia Shanaida; Professor Svitlana Marchyshyn; Associate Professor Ivanna Kernychna) determined the winners of the Olympiad:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sofiia Andrukhiv \u2013 1st place;
Marina Matvieieva \u2013 2nd place;
Anna Nechyporuk \u2013 3rd place;

All participants who received the highest scores in the competition were awarded honorary certificates; however, the most valuable reward for everyone was the experience gained, which brings them closer to their future profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pharmaceutical Botany Olympiad once again confirmed that at TNMU, students acquire not only knowledge in fundamental disciplines, but also receive significant practical training and competency development. This contributes to a better understanding of the important role of medicinal plants in modern pharmacy, enhances students’ intellectual potential, and upholds high academic standards in the training of future pharmaceutical professionals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
