In the new edition of the global ranking of academic and research institutions, SCImago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2026<\/strong>, I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University<\/strong> ranked second among medical higher education institutions in Ukraine<\/strong> and thirteenth in the overall list of Ukrainian universities<\/strong>

This year, 75 Ukrainian universities<\/strong> were included in the SCImago Institutions Rankings for the first time. In total, the Spanish research group SCImago Lab<\/strong> evaluated the performance of 10,000 scientific and educational institutions worldwide<\/strong>, including more than 5,000 universities<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SCImago Institutions Rankings<\/strong> is a respected international evaluation system for scientific and academic institutions. Since 2009<\/strong>, it has assessed institutional performance based on three key areas:<\/p>\n\n\n

    \n
  • research performance (50%)<\/strong>,<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • innovation outputs (30%)<\/strong>, and<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • societal impact (20%)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n

    The evaluation takes into account:
    \u2022 the impact of scientific publications;
    \u2022 the level of international collaboration;
    \u2022 open access to research;
    \u2022 the development of patent activity;
