On March 18, 2026, the first stage of the All-Ukrainian Student Research Paper Competition took place at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University. Students presented research papers in various fields of medicine and pharmacy for evaluation by the commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A special competition committee was established at TNMU to evaluate and conduct the defense of research papers. Each submission underwent double peer review. Experts carried out a comprehensive assessment based on the following criteria: relevance of the problem and novelty of ideas, adequacy of research methods, theoretical and practical significance of results, academic integrity and independence, quality of presentation, and availability of publications on the topic. During the second stage (public defense), authors presented their research findings. The committee evaluated subject knowledge, quality of presentation materials, individual contribution, and the depth of responses to questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session was opened by the Vice-Rector for Research at TNMU, Professor Ivan Klishch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the results of the competition, the winners were determined:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First Prize<\/strong> was awarded to second-year medical student Olena Dudkevych for the research paper \u201cStudy of the Antifibrotic Effectiveness of Umbilical Cord Mesenchymal Stem Cells in an Animal Model of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome\u201d<\/em> (scientific supervisor: Associate Professor Alina Dovhaliuk, Department of Histology and Embryology).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second Prize<\/strong> was awarded to fifth-year medical students Bohdana-Anna Dovhaliuk and Viktoriia Muzychko for the research paper \u201cFolate Intake and Its Serum Level in Children with Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis\u201d<\/em> (scientific supervisor: Professor Oksana Boiarchuk, Head of the Department of Pediatric Diseases with Pediatric Surgery).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Third Prize<\/strong> was awarded to third-year medical students Anastasiia Volosko and Maryna Chyrko for the research paper \u201cMultidisciplinary Aspects of Mechanical Ventilation: From Pathophysiology of Injury to Intelligent Monitoring Systems and Microbiocenosis\u201d<\/em> (scientific supervisor: Professor Mariia Khara, Department of Pathological Physiology).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
