On March 16\u201317, 2026, an intensive workshop titled \u201cAdvanced Rehabilitation & Prosthetics Training\u201d took place in Uzhhorod. Representatives of I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University participated in the event, including the guarantor of the educational program \u201cProsthetics and Orthotics,\u201d Professor Tetiana Bakaliuk, and Professor Iryna Kamyshna of the Department of Medical Rehabilitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was organized by Global Medical Knowledge Alliance (GMKA) in partnership with leading experts from Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children’s Global Health Network (USA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop featured prominent American specialists as keynote speakers. In particular, Professor Michael Y. Lee (MD, MHA, Head of the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation at Baylor College of Medicine) presented modern approaches to post-amputation rehabilitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special attention was given to technological aspects of prosthetics. Jared Howell (MS, CPO, LPO, FAAOP), Director of the Center for Prosthetics, Orthotics and Clinical Innovations at Baylor College of Medicine, delivered an in-depth analysis of the role of 3D printing in modern prosthetics. The expert elaborated on the feasibility of using digital fabrication of prosthetic sockets and conducted a series of consultations based on real clinical cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants had the opportunity to engage in case-based discussions with patients who had combined injuries and complex amputations, as well as to explore modern tools for measuring rehabilitation outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As part of the event, Professor Tetiana Bakaliuk took part in a panel discussion, where she presented the specific features of implementing the educational program \u201cProsthetics and Orthotics\u201d at TNMU. It was emphasized that the combination of fundamental academic knowledge with the latest technologies is key to training specialists capable of effectively returning patients to active life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participation of faculty members involved in training under the \u201cProsthetics and Orthotics\u201d and \u201cTherapy and Rehabilitation\u201d programs in events of this level ensures that TNMU students receive education fully aligned with international ISPO standards and the requirements of the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
