A team of students from I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University demonstrated a high level of professionalism at the 8th International Student Skills Competition \u201cOrganization and Provision of Emergency Medical Care in Mass Casualty Incidents \u2013 2026,\u201d held on April 15\u201316, 2026, in Daugavpils, Latvia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the invitation of Daugavpils Medical College of Daugavpils University, the honor of representing our higher education institution was bestowed upon a team of future paramedics (2nd\u20133rd-year students): Valeriia Dibrivka, Anna Yehorova, Rostyslav Katrychuk, Kateryna Kryvenka, and Bohdan Pachevskyi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The students were accompanied and supported by Mariiana Varvaruk, Assistant of the Department of Emergency and Simulation Medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The competition brought together 11 teams from different countries, creating a strong atmosphere of professional rivalry. The program was highly intensive and included 10 stations focused on individual practical skills, as well as a special \u201cMass Incident\u201d station, where triage strategy, coordination, and teamwork under chaotic conditions were assessed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TNMU students confidently led throughout most clinical stages, demonstrating not only in-depth knowledge but also remarkable resilience under stress. Overall, our representatives earned an honorable 4th place, outperforming many experienced competitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis participation became an important stage in our professional development. We not only tested our abilities but also established communication with colleagues from other countries and exchanged experiences that are invaluable for a paramedic\u2019s work,\u201d the participants shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This outstanding result was made possible thanks to strong training. The preparation took place at the TNMU Simulation Training Center, where students honed their skills to automaticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The team expresses sincere gratitude to the university administration and the Student Parliament for organizing the trip and believing in the students\u2019 potential, as well as to the Head of the Department of Emergency and Simulation Medicine, Arsen Hudyma, for comprehensive support and mentorship. Special thanks are also extended to instructors Olha Prokhorenko, Yurii Denysiuk, and Antonina Chervatiuk for their high-quality professional training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
