On April 22, 2026, lecturers and students of the Department of Emergency and Simulation Medicine at I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University stepped beyond the classroom to take part in Civil Protection Day events in schools across Ternopil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Ihor Hereta Ternopil Lyceum No. 21, Associate Professor Viktor Shatskyi, together with second-year paramedic students Kateryna Panasiuk and Bohdan Vasyliev, conducted an interactive session for tenth-grade students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, a team led by Associate Professor Yurii Denysiuk worked at School No. 27 in Ternopil. Students from group PBV-232\u2014Anna Yehorova, Liliia Bai, Karolina Zatorska, and Maryna Kushnirenko\u2014shared their experience with pupils.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sessions began with a theoretical part, explaining why the first minutes in an emergency are critical, how to recognize life-threatening bleeding, and what actions should be taken before the arrival of an emergency medical team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The practical component became a real challenge for the students. Under the direct supervision of paramedic trainees, pupils practiced key life-saving skills, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

controlling severe bleeding by applying pressure dressings, wound packing, and using a tourniquet;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Students practiced all emergency response algorithms, asked questions, and repeated procedures until they felt confident. This hands-on approach is the core objective of such training\u2014to build readiness to act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Such initiatives reflect TNMU\u2019s mission: to train highly qualified medical professionals and promote a culture of first aid in society. The more people know how to provide emergency care, the more lives they can save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
