On 10 September 2026, I. Horbachevsky Ternopil National Medical University (TNMU) welcomed leading healthcare and infection control specialists. The university was visited by Rostyslav Lapin, Head of the Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control Department at the Ternopil Regional Centre for Disease Control and Prevention; Dr. Charles Vitek, a medical epidemiology consultant and former Director of the CDC Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia; and Sarah Legare, ICAP Regional Advisor on Antimicrobial Resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, the parties discussed areas for future cooperation between ICAP and TNMU. The international delegation proposed organising a series of lectures for students and academic staff delivered by leading international experts and focusing on current issues in infection control and antimicrobial resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TNMU Rector Petro Lykhatskyi expressed his appreciation for the initiative and presented the potential of the university\u2019s Simulation Training Centre, which could serve as an effective platform for practical training for both students and practising healthcare professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussion on expanding partnership opportunities was also attended by TNMU Vice-Rector for Research Oleksandra Oleschuk, Head of the Department of Microbiology Taras Piatkovskyi, and Dean of the Faculty of International Students Mariia Marushchak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
